Carter prays

While I'm at it ...

This file picture I just ran across had this text.

PRESIDENT CARTER PRAYS FOR HOSTAGES 1979

Sketch done by Freda Reiter for ABC TV News depicting President Jimmy Carter meeting with Members of Congress and praying for a release of the hostages. President Carter's prayer meetings became well known by recollection, but no one ever was permitted to photograph these personal times.

Interesting, that benign commentary from yore, given all the flack today's left have given Bush, and certain members of his Administration for their belief in the power of prayer. The chief difference between the two, as far as national policy is concerned, is this was Carter's go-to when faced with a crisis (don't act, then pray it resolves itself in his favor), while Bush acts, then prays for its success.

Seems to me.

  1. I recall the head of the French special services(yesss, the guys that sunk the Rainbow Warrior, Segolene's cousin)
telling peanut man that they had moles
in Khomeini's entourage and offered to kidnap him with their Super Frelon long range helicopters(who where functional,
    unlike peanut man's Sea King),
    and then exchange hostages.

Carter's answer was that he could
not play that dirty trick on the
    old Bishop...yessss, old bishop
    was peanutman's terms, exactly!!!

  2. I had forgotten about that but wasn't one of Carter's big 'things' while campaigning was that he was a 'Born Again' Christian? In that Playboy interview he talked about lusting in his heart.

Nowadays 'Born Agains' are considered (by the MSM) those rightwing evangelicals that want to impose a theocracy on us.
