I'm sure y'all saw the story about the two intrepid Algorons who decided to trek across the North Pole. Yeah, they wanted to bring attention to global warming with a meaningless liberal gesture. It was called off after one of them, Ann Bancroft (loved her in The Chinese Mummer Mystery)
lost three of her toes to frostbite. Maybe like me you were
laughing so hard that you failed to read the money line in this Associated Press account. Thanks to Dr. Hardcrab for the tip.

The Lord does have a wonderful sense of humor, eh?
ReplyDeleteLMAO, ah, a life disconnected from reality has an upside, and a very precipitous downside.
ReplyDeleteCasca
You left out the rest of the money line
ReplyDelete"But one of the things we see with global warming is unpredictability."
So there you have it.....Global warming caused by man is a given and the end of the world as we know it is coming, but its effects are so gosh darn unpredictable....
Loonies nutty enough to believe their own lies.
ReplyDeleteIt's almost poetic.
Nature doesn't give a flyin' fig what anyone believes.

ReplyDeleteYou know: For the past 15 years I have been in the HVAC industry. I am now a saleman. I'll sell you new systems for your home (and some light commercial stuff). All the broo-ha-ha about the "new Freon" out there drives me crazy, but there's not a whole lot you can do. The old R-22 refrigerant is goin to stop being produced by 2020 (or somewhere thereabouts. It keeps changing).
Well, now you have a choice of R-22 or the new R-410. The latter will cost you a little more so I usually suggest sticking with the old stuff because 1) by the time they stop making it, you'll need a new system anyway, and 2) When they stop making it, there is so much out there that the price of the stuff will actually DECREASE just so they can get rid of it.
They try to scare people that R-22 harms the ozone and it will go sky-high in price just like the R-12 did (that was in cars and home refrigerators).
I had a real "tree-hugging" couple that "read about all of the terrible things the old Freon was doing to the Earth" so they demanded to get a price on a system with the new refrigerant. I had already given them a price on an r-22 system and the new stuff was going to cost them about $700 more.
They were pissed! They wanted to know why they had to pay so much more for something that was "Earth friendly". I just looked at them and told them:
"Sometimes you gotta pay for the hype."
I think they are reconsidering...

OK Dr. Hardcrap if that is your real name,I have been waiting to ask this question. What happens if you put R-22 in a system made for R-12? And a follow up,I have heard you can use propane in an R-12 system true?Boazo
ReplyDeleteAnn Bancroft is trying to seduce you into believing global warming.
