Until just now at Kim's I completely missed that The Roanoke Times decided to publish the names of every Virginia CCW (Concealed Carry Weapon) permit holder. That decision was made by a Times' editorial writer, Christian Trejbal. Here's part of Trejbal.'s working equation ..
| "A state that eagerly puts sex offender data online complete with an
interactive map could easily do the same with gun permits, but it does
not."
|
The paper subsequently removed the list, I guess because the paper's BB contained comments like this:
'I’m sure you meant well and were thinking that you are contributing to public safety.
You may want to consider that folks who have arrested and testified
against dangerous criminals, ex police officers witnesses, women hiding
from abusive violent spouses, and others with real security issues, may
have gun permits....
Likewise I’m sure you don’t mean to give burglars a list of where to steal a gun, which is what you have done.
Next year why don’t you publish a list of recently released criminals
with their names addresses and convicted offenses, that way you would
be helping law abiding citizens protect themselves, and doing an actual
community service.
Take care and sleep easy tonight, because after all you aren’t on that list.

But, do you know what shocked me even more? Only 2
percent of Virginians, 135,789 people, want a carry permit. I
would have guessed maybe 17-22%. I'm very surprised. BTW, Kim
urges people to send Trejbal.a responsible letter about your
feelings on the matter, and includes his home address,
something I would normally be appalled over, but not in this
instance. Not after he exposed 135,789 Virginians to the will and
whimsy of that state's substantil population of Starkly mad leftwing lunatics.

ReplyDeleteIt doesn't shock me.
Virginia is full of Yankee liberals now. The few southerners who remain have been so beat-down by years political correctness that they don't even know who they are anymore.
Personally, I think that Virginia has completely lost it's Southern heritage. Sad, when you consider that Richmond was once the seat of the Confederacy.
I knew the end had officially come when they allowed that statue of Arthur Ashe on Monument Avenue.
A serious WTF moment.
In the old days, Trejbal would be getting a visit from his local chapter of the good ol' boys.
ReplyDeleteRoger are you keeping up with the way some of the Libs in Maryland are trying to screw gun owners and enact a bunch of new gun laws?
ReplyDeleteLots of people carry w/o a permit.
ReplyDeleteIndeed we hare Jack.
ReplyDelete-TUA, that damned McCain has targeted you for a makeover. Don't go!
ReplyDeleteAnyone interested in seeing the New Springfield Armory light model 1911 they are nice. I got a link.
ReplyDeleteI loved the comments like;
ReplyDeleteThanks for publishing my address. My Ex hs already called and I am being forced to move again, TONIGHT, before he gets here and tries to kill me and our kids again. Thanks for being so damn thoughful
I left Virginia about the time they closed the Confederate Widows Home (really not that long ago, some of those guys married young girls very late in their lives) cause my Uncle decided my talents could best be used elsewhere. That my hometown paper would publish something like that doesn't suprise me. Everytime I go home to see the folks there are more and more people who ain't from around there buying up land and houses cause they like the quality of life. Of course then they try and make it as screwed up as the place they're trying to get away from. All I can say about the number of folks with permits that a) in most places outside the bigger cities it's still legal to carry whatever you want as long as it's in plain view and b)there's still a lotta folk in SW VA who don't thing Washington or Richmond have any right to tell them whether they can carry a gun.
ReplyDelete-embycil
There are many law enforcement officers the majority I will bet anything supports CCP laws.I have been retired for quite a few years but I am sure it has not changed that much if at all
ReplyDeleteIf they are not onthe list, it is safe to batter down their door and take you time stealing and terrorizing the home, if youhavecriminaltendencies that is.
ReplyDeleteNo really so. I don't have a carry permit in this godforsaken dempcrap controlled Maryland, but that doesn't mean I don't have the means to give you a gigantic headache if you break into my house.
ReplyDeleteIn Jersey you can get a carry permit if you walk around with a can of plaid paint in your back pocket and can paint a fart red.
ReplyDeleteThe foregoing constitutes "good cause shown" under the New Jersey Statutes.
At the core of this is the astonishing notion that some (many?) actually equate rapists and child molesters with CCP holders, who by definition of the process and requirements for holding a CCP are generally 'law abiding' people with no recorded history of badness. Sad. Sick.
ReplyDeleteFor all of their misguided self-righteousness, the irony here is that (IMHO) hoplophobes are arguably cousins to the rapists and child molesters on the path of degeneration, as evidenced by their sick, sad mindsets.
