Today's I Crapped My Britches
You don't have to be a pilot to appreciate what you'll see here, but it helps. H/T ozaob

  4. Yep ... it's a fake. A viral add for Red Bull.

The flying wingless scenes are all done with an RC model.

The real aircraft is only used in the initial scene, and during the taxi-ing shot.

  5. Snopes: Undetermined.

"All signs point to this video clip of an airplane's safe landing on the ground after losing a wing as being a digitally manipulated viral video for the German clothing company killathrill.
    ...
using editing techniques and digital manipulation to meld real footage of an airplane with additional footage of a smaller, remote-controlled aircraft."

  8. Finally, I've got this email from all sorts of folks. All I could say is I can't imagine THAT maneuver pulling an Edge 540 apart. I feel better.

  10. Of course it's a PS, but with it's power to weight ratio, this
    particular airplane is perfectly
capable to land without ANY wings.

Just, with rudder and elevators, point it skyward and reduce power slowly and you land just like an helicopter or the Lockheed Pogo.

    Beside, just google youtube and
"one wing F-15" and you'll see an Israeli F-15 land with only one wing.

Also, I've seen the video of a DC-8
    landing with a wing totally
burned out all the way to the
engine mount of no 4 engine,
that with 250 passenger on board.

Moreover, before landing, they took the time to dump 100,000 pounds of fuel,
    which take 35 minutes...
