In anticipation of the coming
crackdown on Internet communication by enemy gummint, it struck me that
the Barn Army would be well advised to have an alternative line of
communication. I'm thinking a retrograde bulletin board system
based on Kermit, or somesuch. Is there anyone out there with the
expertise to advise on how this can be done?

fidonet software loaded on old BBS servers.
ReplyDeleteGo back to running fidonet points hanging off your local BBS.
Fidonet/7 is still going strong in Russia, because it's free and not government controlled.
I have a PC, can that be a Fidonet server? I need help on this one. I don't write programs, I use them.
ReplyDeleteFidonet is too formal of a protocol. Take a look at Synchronet.
ReplyDeleteTo get a feel for a BBS try this one: Diamond Mine Online BBS
ReplyDeleteDo the following:
Open a command prompt by left clicking start button then left click run...
type in cmd
left click OK
In the command prompt window type in the following:
telnet bbs.dmine.net
Then press enter and you should be telnetted into Diamond Mine Online BBS.
If things get that bad, there wont be a phone service to modem over.
