In 1921,the Listerine advertising group created the faux medical term "chronic halitosis" to help sell their mouthwash to combat bad breath....The business became a raging success after that time...(Toothpaste came later)....I always thought the word halitosis was some ancient Greek word or something....Lots of products were originally sold as patent medicines.... 7UP Angostura Bitters Bovril Coca-Cola Dr Pepper Fernet Branca Hires Root Beer Moxie brand soda tonic water ...Among others.
