scream-of-consciousness;
"If you're trying to change minds and influence people it's probably not a good idea to say that virtually all elected Democrats are liars, but what the hell."
Ever shoot one of those monsters? Some of them kick like a mule! They have their place, but in the average fire fight they are cumbersome and a burdon. If you tote a puny AR15/ M16, you can pack 210 rounds easily. If you jump up to a FNFAL, you drop to arround 100 rounds for the same weight plus pack a heavier stick. Its a good trade when you need to reach out and touch some one at 600 vs 300 meters. With the 50BMG you are above weight even without a round. In the static defense, it is valuable. You can swap pests beyond 1500 meters, but to pack it gets tiresome. 300 Mag and 338 Lapua chamberings can get to better then 1000 meters and not add much weight. Planning is important. If your only tool is a hammer, every problem is a nail. If I were moving on the attack, That 50 might have a few good uses, but I would opt for beefed up battle rifles such as an AR in 6.8spc or 6.5 Grendel. If I'm hunkered down in a good revetment, then that 50 woud be handy as anything. JeremyR
