See if you can explain this report from yesterday.
It
was full 18 days after the Mexican authorities started probing unusual
cases of pneumonia that the world came to know about the swine flu
outbreak.
Coupled with this report from today.
Mexico's
chief epidemiologist said the World Health Organization was slow to
respond to the country's warning about a health crisis that turned into
a global swine flu scare and he wants an investigation.
Arguably,
the answer is that swine flu has graduated from being a medical problem
to a political issue. Mexico wants to redirect public attention away
from its own inaction by accusing the WHO of unresponsiveness.

ReplyDeleteDude outruns the swine flu :-) Hillarious!
eh ..
ReplyDeleteKatrina writ large - instead of city blame state blame Fed and an excuse for Fed handouts coupled with a larger bureaucracy to cope with similar incidents in the future, we have a country blame WHO/UN looking for handouts, cover their asses, and the result will be ... ah fuggit. Leave it for a poly-sci major's master's thesis.
ReplyDeleteYou nailed it Rodger.

ReplyDeleteNow we're being blamed! UN animal health organization saying that it shouldn't be called "Swine Flu" but North American Flu.
ReplyDeleteSome say that change is needed since people is exterminating pigs in many countries around the world. That explanation, however, makes me feel uneasy. Keep your ammo dry.
