Old Dogs-New Tricks
Dog Quote - Daniel Pinkwater
"The old saw about old dogs and new tricks only applies to certain people."
HFS. We bought an underground fence thing, (because she likes jumping over the edge to the golf course) and it came with a DVD manual, basically. It was laying on the bed, the dog had never been up there. We came in, chewed up. There wasn't any plastic, it was in a square white package. But the disc looked just like that. Not more than two weeks ago.
Just what I heard, don't know if it's fact. An excited dog, chasing a rabbit for instance, can run right through an invisible fence with no effect. When they try to get back in at their leisure they get zapped. Some local dog was missing for months until the owners found it living nearby.
Say, can we fit an anti bark collar on congress criters, maybe up the voltage a little?
I have no doubt that could happen. But there's a five foot drop off, that even before the fence, she had to sit and think about for a minute or two before jumping. She never, ever, jumped right off, and now she'll never get close enough to see a rabbit outside of the yard, anyway. :-p
I never take my dog for a walk or run, she takes me.

ReplyDeleteThat fence works great, as long as you train your dog according to the instructions.
ReplyDeleteShe got zapped maybe twice, and now she knows where she can and can't go. I can even leave her outside now. Tis amazing, how well it worked.
