BIDEN:
SPECTER KEPT DEPRESSION AT BAY: VP Biden addressed the Allegheny County
Democratic Party dinner Monday night, where he credited now-Democratic
Senator Arlen Specter for helping keep the nation out of a depression
with his work for the stimulus package.
“It’s amazing how much we’ve forgotten just how far we were in the tank
just nine months ago,” Biden said, according to the pool report.
“Without Arlen having convinced two of his Republican colleagues to
change their vote and vote for the stimulus package, we would probably
be in a depression. Now, that counts for something."
