Earlier in the week we linked to this Las Vegas Review story about Oath keepers [Depending on your perspective, the Oath Keepers are either strident defenders of liberty or dangerous peddlers of paranoia.]
Sigh. Every member publication of the Democrat Media Complex has
at least one staffer whose job it is to look at everything through the
racial prism. That this makes them a racist by definition is an
irony that escapes them. The Atlanta Constitution fills their
("left-wing" would be a redundancy) race-baiter slot with Cynthia
Tucker. Here she is today.

The
paranoia and racism of the unhinged fringe ought to be taken seriously,
and it seems the Secret Service is doing exactly that. According to a
report in the Boston Globe, President Obama has drawn an unprecedented
number of threats against his life, overwhelming the ability of the
Secret Service to check out all the lunatics to see how serious they
are. <snip> ... there are moments when the paranoia of the wingnuts is almost
comical. A new group called Oath Keepers has pledged to keep the feds
from violating the Second Amendment by confiscating weapons.
Formed in March, they are ex-military and police who
repledge themselves to defend the Constitution, even if it means
disobeying orders. If the U.S. government ordered law enforcement
agencies to violate Second Amendment rights by disarming the people,
Oath Keepers will not obey.
“The whole point of Oath Keepers is to stop a dictatorship from ever
happening here,” says founding father Stewart Rhodes, an ex-Army
paratrooper and Yale-trained lawyer. “My focus is on the guys with the
guns, because they can’t do it without them.

And then Cynthia slips on the slope

Hey,
people believe what they want. That’s what makes this a great country.
But, really, folk, the government has nuclear weapons and F-16s. If by
some convoluted Manchurian takeover [say, by a Marxist Zero with no experience and no history?], the feds wanted a dictatorship,
would your hunting rifles stop them?

I have watched Red Dawn recently. Powers Booth Fighter pilot, and Wolverine Colonel Andy Tanner
played the role of fighter pilot, and Wolverine, Col. Andy
Taylor. Pilots swear an oath to protect the constitution too,
Cynthia.

The officers would follow Obama. However there would be no one to fix their jets after each mission. Lord knows they couldn't do it. That would be like work.
ReplyDeletePhantoms Phorever
I also have this weird feeling that they really believe the armed forces are full of people like them. In their purple sky universe, perhaps.
ReplyDeleteObama, Axelrod, et al, recognized this problem long ago. Hence his heads-up about speech about the need for an alternative civilian army (Obama-goons), funded on a level with the military." I heard that with my own deranged ears.
ReplyDeleteObama-goons Good description. He needs to raise taxes to "have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded."
ReplyDeleteImagine SEIU with night vision, infrared, armor, auto weapons and government intelligence agencies providing targeting info. In purple shirts. Brown shirts are passe.
Lt. Col. Gen. Tailgunner dick
What I am afraid of is that a law enforcement officer or solder will "Die for a lie". It is next to impossible to get someone to take the point on the stack of guys breaching a door if they dont fully believe they are doing the right. My bet is that someone will be lied to and have no idea if the orders given were lawful or not. It is going to be someone high in the chain of command that will have to "Keep the promise" rather than the boots in the field. By the time it gets to the individual LEO/Solder it is too late.
ReplyDelete"The Officers would follow Obama."
ReplyDeleteNonsense.
I'm a retired Army Major and I swore "To support and defend".
If the balloon went up today, I'd be doing just that, and that leaves the President out in the cold. Bozo had better consider that.
Greybeard, I very much hope you're right about most of them; unfortunately, as Katrina proved, there are those- both in military and LE uniform- who'll take the order, salute, and carry it out.
ReplyDeleteCynthia is the reason the AJC no longer crosses my threshold. Every week with the whacky racist b.s. was more than enough. She sees the whole world through a prism of skin color.
ReplyDeleteFWIW, the ATL cops raided the wrong house and shot dead a 93(?) year old lady. Took a long time for them to fess up.
I think they[some] would shoot whoever they wanted to... or whoever they were told to shoot.

Even Paranoids have enemies! And Obama is paranoid. Deep in his soul he knows that he is in waaaaayyyyy over his head! Explains a lot.
ReplyDeleteThe SEIU and their cronies have neither the training or the tradition to form an army, or anything beyond a picket line. Even with arms they would be an untrained rabble, most of whom have never picked up a firearm before. Once the ex military and law enforcement organized, SEIU would have no chance.
ReplyDeleteA man who picks up a gun is no more a soldier, than a man who picks up a guitar is a musician.
In a poll held a couple of years ago, American troops indicated that they would refuse to fire on American civilians, even under arms. I like to think that they would make an exception for Obama's purple shirts, however.
My brother, who is still in the military after more than 20 years, has told me that most personel are aware of the Obama quote about a civilian military force, and are both pissed and amused by it.
I don't believe for 2 seconds that most of the law enforcement types would be on the side of liberty when the balloon goes up.
ReplyDeleteThey talk a good story, but how many of them would really follow through? "Do I help these [enemy du jour] by doing the right thing? What?!? Give up the pension? Give up feeding my family? Give up the privileges of being a LEO?"
The very next thing after that little thought process will be them screaming "raus! raus!" as they herd us into the trucks or cattle cars.
I was warned many times in my youth by people who survived Germany's experiment with the new world order: the cop may be your friend today, but will be your enemy tomorrow. They follow orders.
