scream-of-consciousness;
"If you're trying to change minds and influence people it's probably not a good idea to say that virtually all elected Democrats are liars, but what the hell."
The only thing I hate about this is that I wasn't invited. There were 6 people there. They drank (besides the two scotches) 5 bottles of the best red wines, plus 2 magnums of good champagne. Figuring a magnum is roughly 2 standard bottles, they drank 1.5 standard bottles each. Partay!
Thats Mare Monte sketti DougM. Boy I sure would like to work for a table like this one! What a payday - might actually pay for the goddamn taxes in that god-awful city. I love NYC but, the taxes are making it too damn expensive to live in, visit or do business in. They are driving out the taxable income and the city will have no alternatives - they will tax the rabble until it leaves too and THEN the welfare rats will be left to eat the remainder. In any event, not a good outcome.
I'm so old fashoned. If given the choice I would calculate the tip on the food and give the sommelier an individual tip. And I would not give him 20% of the wine price. Even if I am spending #35K on wine it does not call for a $7K tip to suggest and pour. Then again, everything is getting crappy. I went to a Chinese buffet yesterday and they added a 15% tip because my party was 6. It was a buffet - I got my own food - all they did was bus and take drink orders.
My other e-mail address still is: allthetrafficwillbear at etc... from that Dutch pirate captaining the "HotneedleofInquiry" in Larry Niven's Ringworld...
That's a lotta money to pay for skettis and wine

I thought "Cristal Rose Magnum" was the name of the Duke rape accuser...???
ReplyDeleteIf you google the restaurant you'll find it doesn't get very many favorable reviews. Food is apparently not exactly up to par.
ReplyDeleteAs for the Cristal, $5,000 for something you can buy elsewhere for $800?
I'll pass.
.
I don't remember orderng a large water but I do seem to recall some Parmesan Chunks - but that was much later.
ReplyDeleteYour server will be Pauly Walnuts. Two unbroken arms, priceless.
ReplyDeleteCome again, ciao.
The Rich are somehow different from us...
ReplyDeleteTime on the check is 14:39. If we're talking lunch, that one was mighty wet.
