Arroz con Picadillo Cua Cua, ground prime sirloin sautéed with diced onions, peppers, tomatoes, olives and raisins. Topped with a fried egg, at Victor's Café, 236 W. 52nd St., New York, really sounds good, doesn't it?

Just before the fall of China he and the wife were in Hong Kong. He knew the communist cadre boss in Hubei and the boss told him to come back and run his hospital, school and mission.

He went back. After about 2 weeks the boss told him he had to get out. The die hard communists from Hunan were comming and planned to kill him too. So the university there gave him the caligraphy to get out of the country and he got on the last train out of Hubei. Literally ON.. It was packed full of the family and relatives of a complete Nationalist Army. (Not division but Army)...
The army pledged to defend to the death their families on the train and did. Both sides had huge battles on both sides of the track with communist human wave attack and the whole bit.

He said by the time they got to Shanghai the ditchs on either side of the train were running a foot and a half deep in blood.

No reporters knew of the battle.

Nothing wrong in thinking things through. Seems to me they all turned out to be righteous men......

~
What a fantastic movie, Big Country. The fight between Heston and Peck was great. And what a cast!

Truly Peck was the hero. He never compromised. He came into a foreign land and stuck to timeless principles. And natch, in the end got Jean Simmons-hubbahubba

How would the writers of public school text books convey what you just saw to a Chicago 5th grade class?

~
The last anonymous poses an interesting question. My point, obviously poorly framed, was as a stand-alone parable it demonstrates the power one man holding firm in his beliefs can have. As far as Gregory Peck, to me he's a DMFCCS.

~
from imdb

# The character played by Charles Bickford was supposed to represent then US President Dwight D. Eisenhower.

# According to Gregory Peck, director William Wyler intended the film to be a left-wing allegory for the Cold War.

The film is credited with starting the trend for pacifist westerns.

First, there are few movie scenes as mind blowing as that in Lonesome Dove, truly one of the best westerns ever.

Second, I hardly consider Peck's actions in Big Country as pacifist-he was far from it and only the contrast with Conners and Heston might cast him in that vain-explain that please.

There is no hidden meaning Rog, you can either stand up and do what's right or slowly degenerate to our current state of affairs.

We have lost the ability to convey our fundamental exceptionalism to our children-they are bathed 24/7 in a culture most of us, as kids, would have thought it something from an EC comic, ala Weird Fantasy-no one in my family would have believed for a second we could sink to where we are now.

We may as well be that culture on the planet with giant people-in that great Twilight Zone episode(keeping in the EC mode, thank you)-that's how alien conservative values are being portrayed. You need look no further then the disgusting anal probe the left inserted into Sarah and the daily whitewashing this bunch gets.

Seriously, look back at the just past week and ask yourself if this had been Bush, do ya think there would've been a bit of difference in various coverages?

Alaska's Chopper

Alaska commissioned OCC (Orange County Choppers) to build a custom chopper in honor of its 50 years as a state. Paul confers with Governor Sarah Palin, and finally delivers the goods. I was there and filmed it all.  ooo-rah!

I'm bs'n,here boss.
I have never met her. I have just sent them some gear for Track, when he deployed.
I did see that Ruger and she will receive a holster for it from me.

Aside from having "presence," my sense of Sarah is she has a low bullshit threshold (in or out), and will rip your heart out if'n you threaten what's dear to her, and I don't mean political power (which quality would make her a common democrat). The makings of a great leader. Can we all chip in and make it an embossed holster from the American Barn Army? Like "The Loaded Pancake," with tooling?

~
~
Rodger I'm happy to do it on behalf of the Barn Army & /or C&R.
You can make up a fancy certificate & maybe we can present it to Sarah. You'd have to fly up in the next month or so Kings are running then:-)

If any of you ever get a chance to motorcycle in AK, do it! I did the ferry to Skagway, to Anchorage and Fairbanks, the ALCAN highway, and back down British Columbia (by way of Virginia and Mexico). I need to do it again. July is great.

Here, a gift to the critical-thinking
challenged person in your life.
With no apologies.

I took this in its entirety from Moonbattery.  Not because I'm lazy, which I am.  Not because I want you to think I'm on the ball, obviously.   Because I want as many people as possible to be exposed to as many facts ... F-A-C-T-S about this, one of the big cons being foisted upon us.

The red line indicates that we have the highest observed Arctic ice levels in years.

Meanwhile, from the mendacity industry:

Halt Ice Melt, Pleads Gore
Arctic Ocean Could Be Ice-free in Summer Within 100 Years, Scientists Say
Scientists Issue Warning on Future of Central Arctic
Massive Surge in Disappearance of Arctic Sea Ice Sparks Global Warning
New Warning Over 'Catastrophic' Sea Level Rise, Scientists Claim

There are a million more where these came from. The underlying theory was pioneered by Joseph Goebbels:

If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.

Goebbels continues:

The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.

By the same token, the liberal media is the greatest friend of the State.

Joseph Goebbels, founding father of the climate change crisis.

I would like to see one of these environazis explain one stinking thing..

Why is it that the Great Lakes did not exist just 14000 years ago??? They were covered under a sheet of ice two freaking miles thick (that is actually thicker than obama's skull).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Glacial_lakes.jpg

That ice sheet has been melting for the last 90 THOUSAND years. It reached almost all the way into Philadelphia PA just 15k years ago. The industrial age has only existed since the early 1800's..

So, the Gorones are full of bullfeathers. The freaking ice has been melting for almost a hundred thousand years. Freaking man has only existed for about 30,000 of that in any form.

Meanwhile, while the lefties are spouting nonsense about glueball warming, the real threat like the declining US and european birth rates 1.4 kids/family for us/euro is creating cultural suicide coupled with muzzie immigration and a birth rate of 8.something.
