If I'm caught without a corkscrew, I'd rather just get regular screw, one of which is always in the house somewhere, screw it into the cork and use a hammer to pull the cork. I'm not saying the shoe doesn't work, I'm just not in favor of putting a bottle of wine into a shoe for any reason.
For some reason, my Swiss Army Boy Scouts of America pocket knife has a corkscrew on it. Never used the corkscrew for Scout activities, but it has been handy when at Ft. Benning, Ft. Polk, Ft. Sill, and Ft. Bliss.
Ive never opened wine that way. Most of the finer types (with corks) after the screw tops of my youth could be opened by pushing the cork in with a screw driver. All bottles were finished in one setting so to speak. However, footwear can be useful. I have consumed wine from a ladies shoe. Tim
Judging from the mushmouth audio, he's already had three bottles, and that's how he lost the corkscrew. BTW, is a pussified suede pointy toed shoe a requirement? You say he was speaking French? Must have been John Kerry. Lt. Col. Gen. Tailgunner dick

Thanks, I ended up with a hole in my wall and half a bottle of wine on the floor. I guess I shouldn't have tried it with a screw top.
