Texas GOP set to defy RNC on early primary
“  The chairman of the Texas Republican Party will try to jump his state ahead of other less-conservative states in the 2012 presidential-nomination contest, The Washington Times has learned.

"We are more likely to get a Ronald Reagan than a John McCain to head our national ticket if we have a February primary," Texas Republican Party Chairman Steve Munisteri told The Times, thumbing his nose at a just-concluded vote by the 168-member RNC to penalize any state that schedules its presidential nominating contest before April 2012. The four exceptions are Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina and Nevada. [Full]

If we want states to thumb noses at over-reaching federal law, this is a good baby step.  And a good one.  Here's a sign of GOP squalor,  however.

Desperate?  Yes. But what's the problem?  I would think Steele's ouster a foregone conclusion.   His allies in the GOP are the braniacs who allowed the New York Times, and democrat cross-voters in the primaries to shackle us with John McCain.  Any resurgence of GOP prospects this fall are entirely due to Tea Partiers, not, no, despite Michael Steele's GOP.

    No offense to the good people of New Hampshire, but I'm sick to death of hearing the name "New Hampshire" in connection with primaries. Who died and made them the kingmakers? Same goes for Iowa, the Holy Ground for the ethanol subsidy. Drop both those states from the early primaries.

    The RNC saddled us with McCain after one single states primary. The RNC didn't need any primaries to pick the loser. I knew he would lose.

    Maybe if the RNC allows more than half the primaries to take place before announcing the winner it would at least appear as if the primaries served some purpose. Adn we would have an opportunity to discover who people will really vote for instead of telling everyone what they will vote for.
