Start with Churchill's staggering loss to Labor's Clement Attlee in 1945. In the 65 years since, GB has had exactly two decent PM's - Churchill again, and Thatcher. Come to think of it, in that same period we've only had (nominally) Eisenhower and Reagan; and we're pretty much where they are ourselves. The short answer then: liberalism.

These competitions were discontinued because of expense and injuries. The same reasons the UK has mostly canceled the activities after which they are modeled. Binky Nabob
Thanks Rodger, I had been looking for this. I was telling friends I used to watch this on Wide World of Sports as a lad. No one else had seen it and I didn't use the right key words to find it I guess. Manly indeed.
Couldn't do that with a 155mm M-777. Weighs a couple of tons. Be fun to watch tough.
