Excerpts from Notable Quotables

“Cataclysm” of GOP Win “Would Destroy America”
“[The Tea Party-backed Republicans are] a group of unqualified, unstable individuals who will do what they are told, in exchange for money and power, and march this nation as far backward as they can get, backward to Jim Crow, or backward to the ...  blah-blah-Olbermann

“The GOP’s Agenda Has to Be Stopped”
“We [the press corps] are so eager to promote ourselves with the smartest take on how President Obama and the Democrats got themselves in this pickle that we haven’t done a good job explaining the stakes....A right-wing Republican takeover of Congress and state capitals isn’t something to accept with indifference. Midterms matter, and voters tempted to skip this election should have their heads examined.”  Newsweek's Eric Alterman

Tea Party Fools Don’t Know They’re Pawns of the Rich
Ex-President Jimmy Carter: “The ones that know it, deny it. And obviously, the Tea Party movement has been almost completely financed by hard-right oligarchs....The Tea Party movement has been suborned by these very right-wing people who don’t give a darn about low-class working people, but just want to feather their own nest.”
Chris Matthews: “Well, I wish they knew that.”

Poor Dr. Obama
[Obama is] fighting, he’s fighting an economy that just won’t give him anything.... He cannot get any traction on what he’s accomplished.” - CBS 60 Minutes correspondent Lesley Stahl

Hailing “Irresistible” Pelosi, “Most Productive” Congress
“Nancy Pelosi is considered one of the most effective Speakers in congressional history....The irresistible force who marshaled House Democrats to pass controversial administration policies — including the stimulus package, Wall Street reform, and health care....Pelosi’s support for a middle-class tax cut, children’s issues, and education, has made her a hero in some quarters.” - CBS’s Rita Braver

“No Question” Tea Party Republicans Are Wacky Extremists - Maggie Rodriguez: — CBS’s The Early Show

(MY FAVORITE)
Anchor Norah O’Donnell: “Sarah Palin is throwing out punches ahead of the midterm elections. During a speech to the conservative Liberty and Freedom Foundation in San Jose last night, the former Alaskan governor took a shot at some comments made by First Lady Michelle Obama.”
Sarah Palin clip:You know, when I hear people say, or had said during the campaign, that they had never been proud of America until, until that time, I think, ‘Haven’t they met anybody in uniform yet?’”
O’Donnell: “Of course, Mrs. Obama never said that. She never said that she had not been proud of her country.”

Jeanne Dielman, 23 Quai du Commerce, 1080 Bruxelles

I watched every bit of this film. Because I was certain that a spectacular pay-off awaited those who subjected themselves to the full, mind-numbingly boring three-hour-twenty-one minutes it took.

Oye.

Jeanne Dielman is an anally retentive widow who prostitutes herself once a day to pay for her, and her college-aged son's subsistence,  We watch her making dinner.  Actually.  Buying potatoes. Peeling potatoes. Stirring the potatoes. Serving the potatoes.  Eating the potatoes.  Before I watched it, I read somewhere that this is the 19th best film ever made. But not for everyone; only truly erudite, sensitive movie goers. That sounded like me, to me.

We never see Jeanne during one of her assignations, which after all is why I bothered to begin with.  She goes into her room with the gentleman caller, and is next seen leaving, handing the client his hat, coat, muffler and umbrella, and receiving one crisp 100 note which she deposits into a terrine.  Then she scrubs her body,  and  scrubs the tub just as vigorously.  It's seems that she's trying to wash away the defilement.  Then she finishes making dinner. I think we get to see three of these cycles. Until the last guy.  Here, she lays on her bed with him on her, seemingly motionless, but bringing her to orgasm which you sense is an epiphany; one that very much upsets her. She stabs him in the heart with a scissors and gets gets dressed. Movie ends.

I couldn't figure out what the hell this was.  But now, here's what I think.  This artsy-fartsy movie was made by, and for feminists who were at the time (1975) just discovering how useless men are.  They put their thing in you, a joyless task for women,  for which the woman is rewarded with a life of endless, unfulfilled tedium. All this so he'll give you money for groceries -- to feed him.   And here comes this guy who gives her an orgasm! And that threatens her commitment to the sisterhood; to  the cause. He must be excised. Take my word for it; you don't want to watch it (on NetFlix).

She's not that cute.  Her meals look bland.

Grizzly After Medium Rare Bison

It was a bison, badly burned from an encounter with one of the numerous hot spots in Yellowstone National Park.

...

A grizzly was chasing the buffalo (which was practically cooked already) and gaining quickly.

....

The two beasts passed the man by without paying any notice.

The result: these 14 hair-raising pictures.

We pick our tale up where the photos end.

Wypiszinski says once in the safety of the woods the bison out maneuvered the grizzly, escaping to live exactly one more day.

Park rangers had to put the bison down due to the injuries it sustained.

Wypiszinski said the whole event was over just as quickly as it happened.

Just another day in Yellowstone National Park. [Full story and 14 pictures]

They'll institute a physician draft.
Then they'll change MD requirements to be basically PEs, then RNs, then EMTs.

I ain't laughin'.

Physician drafts result in said doctors leaving the country.

Happened in Europe ... all the competent doctors walked. Belgium even drafted doctors into the army, but was not able to prevent them from just walking across the border after they had gotten their financial assets out.

~
Oh, and Britain and Australia are now reduced to hiring doctors from Pakistan and India.

The situation is a little better in Australia, as they still have private medical care ... they can still compete with the state run system there under Oz law.

Jim Inhof’s list of GOP Senate winners

The smell of victory

Inhof’s sure winner list

“We’ve got Arkansas, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Nevada, Washington, Wisconsin and North Dakota. West Virginia is the newest one on here and that brings us to 10.” This is an ambitious list, yet it too falls short.

Senator Inhof has left a few more off the list: Connecticut and Delaware, yes Connecticut and Delaware. Here's why ..

Getting Tom Tancredo elected Gov is my number one hope. Colorado would have the most conservative governor in the country. He has said he will get together with governors in Texas, Arizona and NJ and flex our 10th Amendment rights.

Second has been a months long effort to put Ed "union thug" Perlmutter in the unemployment line, my current Rep in CO-7

But third would be to see Christine O'Donnell ream Coons. I have sent more dough to her then anyone but my first two hopes. It is absolutely disgusting the smearing they have done to her. What gives me hope are the numerous trips both Obama and Biden have made there to campaign for Coons-that shouldn't even be necessary in such a blue state.
MM

Hmmm, 10 + 2 would be 12 Senators and I think the majority of those 12 would be Tea Party types? That being the case and if they co-ordinated with the Tea Party Types in the House it could become a very nervous time for the Old Boy Country Club Republicans/RINO's, not just the Democrats. Payback is hell.

How to use your power as a senator to send
$8 million in cold cash to your son, by Barbara Boxer
(D-CA). Also: The Hill scrubs story from website

What makes the story timely is that the federal government just a couple of weeks ago was compelled to declare the land that Boxer’s son had purchased on behalf of the Indian casino a reservation, effectively killing the local zoning and lawsuits that had tied the project up in knots for most of the past decade. - Doug Ross

AND MORE ...

Note- This clip was posted by George Soro's Media Matters of all places, where it elicited comments like this one:

Remember that, in the history of this country, the Republicans have a much worse track record on voter fraud than the Democrats, Fox Propaganda, and plan your programming accordingly. Except, you won't do that, will you? Because you insist on failing to live up to 'fair and balanced', which is how you got the name Fox Propaganda in the first place.

I watched the Fox News video a couple times, and have the following observation:
I didn't hear anybody accuse a party, group or individual of tampering or fraud. I heard spokespersons from both major parties, and only the Democrat spokesman felt compelled to say there was no proof, and that the Democrats didn't do it.
As a parent, I've encountered that kind of response before. Just sayin', is all.

Actually, I used to think that Soros was NOT a citizen, until I was schooled. He was naturalized some time ago.

Can we have a do-over on that naturalization?

Can we have a do-over on that naturalization?

If it can be proved he lied or falsified anything used to gain entry to the USA or applying for naturalization, he can be sent back, and stripped of his US citizenship.
Free speech is free speech, but that does NOT include such hijinks as thuggery, slicing tired, bullying and various other criminal activities. He uses cutouts to keep his name 'clean', but it can be pointed out that his money has bought a lot of the above illegal activities...
Personalize it, smear it, ridicule it. Where it is spelled S O R O S.

My ? is why does he want to destroy that which has enabled him to get richer than Croesus? He can't be elected to the White House.
