  1. "Don Conroy was the best uncle I ever saw, the best brother, the best grandfather, the best friend-and my God, what a father."

    BigLookSpook,

Who has more credibility with a combat infantryman suffering PTSD, one of his buddies or some college educated military counselor who has never been shot at? If your combat brother is hurt, you help him.

  3. You mean it's possible to forget all the bad things that you don't want to remember just by talking with your compadres? Color me a disbeliever. Everything goes in your pack. One day you get to lay it down.

  4. Casca,
It makes your pack lighter. It never ever goes away.

  5. It helps to be mentally hard going in. Probably even helps more than the Armys evening "Self Actualization Chats". The reporter talks like this is something new. Pretty sure it predates horse-Marines. Semper Fi -Anymouse

Not today's public school graduate; They have been indoctrinated that all killing is bad and violence is never the answer...and that people who kill and/or are violent are terrible and will suffer permanent mental anguish... nary a word about the thrill of victory, skies being bluer, flowers smelling sweeter, & sun shining brighter...not to mention being grateful just to be alive.

  7. The best relief for losing a buddy to the enemy is to shoot several of the bastards.

    Makes you feel much better.
