Jewish court sentences dog to death by stoning

Jewish court sentences dog to death by stoning

A Jerusalem rabbinical court condemned to death by stoning a dog it suspects is the reincarnation of a secular lawyer who insulted the court's judges 20 years ago, Ynet website reported Friday.

According to Ynet, the large dog made its way into the Monetary Affairs Court in the ultra-Orthodox Jewish neighbourhood of Mea Shearim in Jerusalem, frightening judges and plaintiffs.

Despite attempts to drive the dog out of the court, the hound refused to leave the premises.

One of the sitting judges then recalled a curse the court had passed down upon a secular lawyer who had insulted the judges two decades previously.

Their preferred divine retribution was for the lawyer's spirit to move into the body of a dog, an animal considered impure by traditional Judaism.

Clearly still offended, one of the judges sentenced the animal to death by stoning by local children.

But wait ... The canine target, however, managed to escape.

  1. Horrified. Hard to defend people who act like/believe like that.

  2. Seeing how Glenn Beck is licking the arse of the socialist collective of Israel with unbridaled fury, I can only assume he will be selling gold bone stones in complete favor of pooch stoning. And this is the community that the future of the free world hinges on? I think not Mr. Beck.

Does it matter that it's a German Shepherd?

  3. Considering that Muslims/Arabs also consider dogs to be an unclean animal you might need to get a bit more specific. When you refer to people like that.
Also the story refers to "Ultra Orthodox" Jews. I know of Orthodox Jews who have dogs as pets. So you are probably looking at some weird Jewish sect.
Besides everybody knows that lawyers are reincarnated as sharks or sewer rats like Internet Trolls, Islamist, and Democrats.

  5. Toadold: Ultra-orthodox in Israel refers to about a half million jews who have taken their religion to the cult stage.

The get taught to read, write, and do basic arithmatic. Then they get taught the Torah and the Talmud. Nothing else. No science, no geography, nothing.

No TV, no radio, no internet. Just news posted on a bulletin board by religious authorities.

People leaving that cult need to be retrained in order to even hold a decent job. Arab guest workers have more skills.

  6. I consider the Amish to be better off. They aren't castigated for reading newspapers, and all Amish teenagers are given an allowance and expected to go out in live in the real world for a couple of years ... their religion requires teenagers to choose their religion, not be forced into it by accident of birth.

  9. I'm an orthodox Jew and I am appalled by this. Many orthodox Jews own dogs (myself, a Rabbi's son, included) and the Torah is very specific about how to treat animals (with kindness).

I don't know what Chassidic group this was, but I can assure you Traditional Judaism does not consider dogs "unclean."

  10. After researching the original story, it seems the writer is quite the anti-Israeli. Apparently, the "stoning" was telling children to throw rocks at it because it was a big dog and it was not leaving them alone (therefore scaring the kids).

It's amazing what people will write - even Israel's when they want to belittle the Jewish state. It wasn't even a YNet article, it was from AFB. Only the BBC is more anti-Israel that AFB (okay, maybe Reuters also).

  11. When I was a youngster, stoning was where you stuffed someone in a sleeping bag and drew the drawstring up tight. Then you blew a shotgun in the top until smoke started leaking out the zipper.
