Congressional Sources: Republicans and Democrats Reach Tentative Debt Deal

Here, according to Democratic and Republican sources, are the key elements:

  • A debt ceiling increase of up to $2.1 to $2.4 trillion (depending on the size of the spending cuts agreed to in the final deal).
  • They have now agreed to spending cuts of roughly $1.2 trillion over 10 years. (WOW!)

  2. Per the TV news this morning:

The debt ceiling will be extended through the next election, getting Obama off the hook as far as debt negotiations go.

The news is STILL pushing the lie that we default on our debt if the ceiling isn't raised. Dammit! I am tired of this lie.. a lie that so many people seem to believe!

  3. I still think they need to dig a moat completely around D.C. and cut off the supplies. These reprobates need to be isolated from society.

  5. Prepare yourself for bullshit like this:

"The package would combine about $1 trillion in immediate cuts to discretionary spending, then seek further savings to be negotiated by a new bicameral, bipartisan Congressional committee tasked with producing a framework by Thanksgiving. The Senate will also vote on a constitutional amendment to balance the budget, McConnell said."

I especially love "immediate cuts" (that would be the Bush Tax cuts, and baseline budget magic) and "bipartisan Congressional committee ..."
