Teaparty arrest on gun charge ...

       WHAT GUMMINT DOES

Tea-party leader shocked by arrest on gun charges
Faces up to 15 years in prison, despite concealed-carry permit

"While in temporary transit through the state of New York in possession of an unloaded, lawful firearm that was locked in a (Transportation Security Administration)-approved safe, he legally declared his possession of the firearm in his checked baggage at the ticket counter as required by law and in a manner approved by TSA and the airline, yet was arrested by port authority for said possession," Stapleton said. [full]

Okay, we've come to expect incompetent asshattery from the TSA—   and that's too bad.
STOP THE MADNESS

  3. He's fucked.

The FOPA won't protect him, as he spent three days in NYC, instead of just transiting through.

Unless the HR822(?) passes very quickly, Bloomberg will jail his ass.

  4. Unless he wanted to make a SCOTUS 2nd Amendment case, and I hope that was his reasoning, he was effin' stupid to play in the hyena's den.
Might take a few years for his bites to heal. And he might be disbarred.

  5. I think this was the NY Transit Authority police; they'd pulled this crap before. FOPA? They've literally said they don't care what federal law says.

MAYBE a lawsuit that costs them out the ass might get their attention.

"I think this was the NY Transit Authority police...MAYBE a lawsuit that costs them out the ass might get their attention." It's the port authority police and yes they have pulled this before.

They arrested a man whose connecting flight was delayed. When baggage returned his declared bag they were waiting. Almost a "hold this crack pipe in front of these nice uniformed gentlemen".

He was covered under FOPA and they were forced to drop the charges. He filed a suit but that is the last I heard.

The current case is not protected under FOPA because he STAYED in NY. It's pure B.S., but it is the law.
