However your post speaks to the Nanny State and how big government bureaucrats end up being the great decider and protector of all people, due to politicians meddling and passing laws determining the affairs of the population for their own good, Medicare/Obamacare are perfect examples. Those sacred cows are off limits once enacted and bureaucrats expand the mandates well beyond reasonable... see Tommy Douglas' Canada, where everything healthcare is free (howls with laughter) no rationing of medical treatments here nope, none, everyone has equal access to health care, no choice in your own health care is available, they'll decide when and how, unless of course you're a criminal in prison, a professional sports player, or a politician, access to timely healthcare is a little different for those folks...

Sometimes people are spot-on about something, but it's not confirmable until later. I recalled a post I made (on December 06, 2009, as it turns out) and went looking for it. It rhetorically asked, "Who's afraid of Sarah Palin." I knew it was an insightful bulls-eye then, and still do, so it's worth revisiting.

Other observations made by Ms. Burke include::

New York Times columnist David Brooks called Palin a "fatal cancer to the Republican party." If this is accurate, then why are Democrats bent on discrediting her? Wouldn't they do well to let her keep her hopes up and let that cancer fester?
Despite their intentions to tear Palin down, her hate club is doing her a great favor with their incessant chatter, which inflames her base and keeps her in the news. If the chatter continues, before they know it, Palin might be on that 2012 ticket.

Sarah of course went on to challenge the Republican Party's 2010 hand picked RINOs with her own, mostly nobodies who were actual conservatives. Most of whom won office. The Left's abject horror over the specter of Sarah Palin with power continues unabated. Giddy-up.

Lots of petty reasons and one big one:
They hate anyone that strays off The Reservation™ that their identity group is supposed to confine itself to. She's evidence that Prog/Lib categorization is artificial and that the Prog/Lib Reservation™ system is a trap. Palin is a threat to everything they believe, not for what she can do in office, but because she nurtures doubt in those still on The Reservations™.

I really like the way the media is literally chasing her bus all over the country.

And the backdrop against which all of this is occuring (the fanfare about Rep. Weiner's e-mailing a photo of his unimpressive wad to a college girl) makes these seem like surreal times.

The media (e.g. Martin Bashir) have a galloping case of the vapors and it is quite hillarious.

That's ironic. Ohio voters put him into office. Too bad they didn't look at his 'resume' before casting their votes.

One can only hope they have come to their senses by 12. They put Kasich in place, but some are now grousing that he is cutting back too much, but he's only trying to get the state back to a balanced budget.

I must demur. Ohio VOTERS did not put Obama in office. Ohio ACORN did. I remain convinced there was massive vote fraud that, even today, the Democrat party struggles its utmost to protect. Witness the current battle over voter verification bills in the Assembly.

ACORN didn't swing Ohio for the clown. Nor did voter fraud. I personally know too many starry-eyed Ohioans who really thought they were voting for teh Won. Does me and my Republican cohorts no good here in Columbus to go around saying "See, told ya' so".

What's past is prologue: We had a nice 2010 election, what with Kasich and Portman and in my district Stivers. Realism is what will drive 2012. I moved downtown for my own reasons, but one of them is to attend political rallies. I meandered past one SEIU had against the bill to rein in the public unions.

I got nothing to say to those people, so I said nothing. This one guy came up to me with a big mouth and a fistful of fliers, asking, no, demanding that I hand them out. That he shut up and slowly backed up with nothing but a look from me cracked me up.

Ohio will do us proud in 2012, don't be writing us off just yet.

That's Akron Colorado, not Akron Ohio. As a resident all of my 46 years, I could tell that the landscape was not Akron Ohio's. There is a radial engine aircraft air show held in Akron Colorado.
