SEOUL
– President Barack Obama offered a private request Monday to
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev for some “space” on missile defense
ahead of November’s elections.
“On all these issues, particularly on missile
defense, this, this can be solved but it’s important for him to give me
space,” Obama said, referring to incoming Russian President Vladimir
Putin, according to a TV pool reporter who heard audio recorded by a
Russian reporter who was in the room moments before the two leaders
spoke to reporters after their 90-minute meeting.
“Yeah, I understand. I understand your message about space. Space for
you,” Medvedev responded.
Okay,
not quite the German-Soviet Pact of 1939 metaphor the situation begs,
but
close. Obama needs time to get into position, and Medved is
promised
the result he wants; the end of American missile defense. Too heavy
handed for you? Okay, we're still left with Obama telling Medved
(Putin) that the voters will not look kindly on it, so please keep it
off the radar until after I'm reelected.

One difference was that in 1939, both Hitler and Stalin knew the pact was BS and just an excuse to divide up Eastern Europe before turning on each other. I doubt if B-HO has a clue.

PS: I though that it was still "Russia" in 1939. "Soviet" came late in the war in a bid to get a handful of etxra UN votes.
Medvedev promptly offered a reply:
ReplyDelete"I have your "space" hanging, Barry."

ReplyDeleteBe nice, Casca.
ReplyDeleteSchools stopped teaching useless things like math, English, history, and science back in the 1980's.
Now Poland is worried. They were betrayed in 1939 and 1945, and their sense of humor is lacking in this area.
ReplyDeleteIs Oh-Bama the ONLY moron who doesn't think ALL microphones are "LIVE?"
