They probably stole email/password lists, and immediately sold them to MMO gold farmers.
Seriously.
If you run a server or a forum, block China and the third world using an htaccess IP list. They are like escaping goats ... dumb, but they have nothing better to do all day than to find a way out of their pen.
Kristopher, won't that become ineffective if they've hacked into say, NBC, HP-Compaq or GM and make their attacks from there? Or use an IP spoofer to hide their true IP? I just don't think there is any real protection save unplugging the RJ45... tomw
They aren't that smart, tomw. Yea, a real hacker ( who always operates from a proxy ) would not be stopped by that.
These tards just have bots looking for forum software, message servers, and old non-updated LAMP servers that they know they can bust open using last year's exploits.
A simple IP block will stop a bot from finding you.
