Following
up yesterday, Judge Napolitano
posed some troubling what-ifs? (What
If the Government Rejects the Constitution?)
“
|
- What if the government regards the
Constitution as merely a guideline to be referred to from time to time,
or a myth to be foisted upon the voters ...
- What if both political parties love
power more than freedom? What if both parties have used the Commerce
Clause in the Constitution to stretch the power of the federal
government far beyond its constitutionally ordained boundaries and well
beyond the plain meaning of words? ...
- What if Congress bribed the states
with cash in return for their enacting legislation that Congress likes,
but cannot lawfully enact? What if Congress went to all states in the
union and offered them cash to repave their interstate highways, if the
states only lowered their speed limits? What if the states took that
deal? ...
|
” |
Which further begs, "what if we had a president who didn't
bother to make
pretense of observing limits to his constitutional powers, and was
prepared to do
whatever it takes to achieve some mission in the full knowledge
that the vaunted "watch dog" news media, with their abiding
hatred of conservatism, would cover
for him in knee-jerk fashion?

Waitaminute. Didn't Nixon get the 55mph national speed limit enforced by threatening to withhold Federal highway tax funds to any state that didn't enact their own "State" speed limit?
ReplyDeleteIt has already happened, and, IMO, should have been declared un-constitutional way back then.

ReplyDeleteAhem
Montana now has speed limits on all roads where on the Interstates there used to be no speed limits. The Feds did not like it and forced Montana to comply or lose all highway funds. The Dems. in charge at that time bent there knee to DC and you know the rest.

Secret Service = SS
ReplyDeleteSS, abbreviation of Schutzstaffel, (German: “Protective Echelon”)the black-uniformed elite corps of the Nazi Party. Founded by Adolf Hitler in April 1925 as a small personal bodyguard, the SS grew with the success of the Nazi movement and, gathering immense police and military powers, became virtually a state within a state.
Today is April 13,2012. HR-347 was passed February 28,2011. Yeah, I just learned of it here and now. -sigh-
"What if both parties love power more than freedom?" Guess this is one answer:

Well, Juice. We also have Janet and her merry band of airport security inspectors on hand to replicate the Waffen SS. Somebody should explain to me, again, why it is that ballots are more important than bullets.
ReplyDeleteJudge - What'a ya' mean "What if?"
ReplyDeleteHave you been doing a Rip Van Winkle?
