This year, July has 5 Fridays, 5 Saturdays and 5 Sundays. This happens once every 823 years. The last time (1189 AD), a ruler who wanted to wanted his court to have authority over everything, and killed anyone who got in his way, died.

  1. Sorry, Roger, RKOF, our sovereign. Unfortunately this occurs on any 31-day month that starts on a Friday.

  3. It was July 2011 not 2012.

The 31-day months are: January, March, May, July, August, October, December.

Well, I have a 50-year calendar/paperweight that allows me to align the weeks. In it I see:

    January - 1999, 2004, 2010, 2021, 2027, 2032, 2038
    March - 2002. 2013, 2019, 2024, 2030, 2041
    May - 1998, 2009, 2015, 2020, 2026, 2037, 2043
    July - 2005, 2011, 2016, 2022, 2033, 2039, 2044
    August - 1997, 2003, 2008, 2014, 2025, 2031, 2036, 2042
    October - 1999, 2004, 2010, 2021, 2027, 2032, 2038
    December - 2000, 2006, 2017, 2023, 2028, 2034, 2045

  5. The Pillars of the Earth, Ken Follet. A great book, it's also on video, although I haven't seen it.

  6. What do you expect? That ruler was the descendent of Norman-Frogs whose family could not make it in France and had to settle for England and French nobles most famous for their pears and effete pink wines.
