WASHINGTON
(The Blaze/AP) — For months now, the FBI has been warning people that a
blackout of their access to the Internet could be coming. The
warnings
about the Internet problem have been splashed across Facebook and
Google, and Internet service providers have sent notices as well.
But tens
of thousands of Americans may still lose their Internet
service Monday unless they do a quick check of their computers for
malware that could have taken over their machines more than a year ago.
The Blaze has covered the story a couple times, first stating the FBI
would shut off Internet access to computers still infected as of March
and later reported the extension the clean-up period until July 9.
HERE'S THE KEYS
TO MY LIFE - UR WELCOME
To check whether a computer is infected,
users can visit a website run by the group brought in by the FBI: http://www.dcwg.org.
This link also provides resources for how to “disinfect” your
computer should the malware be found on it. As the Blaze has reported
before, the FBI has said fixing the problem will be much harder once
your access to the Internet is cut off.

you're thinking of reasons why it's a good idea for Eric Holder to take
this extreme action, I want you to stay after school. And yes,

will be physically abused with a sock filled with iron filings.

...don't tease.
ReplyDeleteI'm convinced that going to that web site deposits "something" into your system, rather than removing some form of "malware"....
ReplyDeleteI'll pass on the governments offer to help me out!
I find it hard to get excited about this.
ReplyDeleteAbout a quarter million folks are botnet bitches. The FBI does have the authority to shut down PCs that participate in DOS attacks on government agencies.
PCs in the US and the EU are favorite botnet targets because of fast connections and low latency vs. US targets.
...and then the question is: What malware is the FBI installing on your computer???
ReplyDelete//I'm not paranoid, I don't care what anyone sees me doing on-line. But you reallly have to wonder why they're pushing everyone to visit their site to run their 'check'....
It does sound like the FBI is running some sort of operation. Maybe they will deposit malware on your computer. Maybe they are doing a check on contents of hard drives, looking for crooks or terrorists. Maybe they will deposit child porn on your computers, which they will find later. No way am I going to that site.
ReplyDeleteInteresting how the fedz reputation went from "bunch o' shiftless petty bureaucrats with a few bad apples" to ...well, this response.
ReplyDeleteNice work, Obobo, Holderrr, Sunsteeen....

Has anybody been cut off by the Feds yet? ANYBODY? Did I miss it?
ReplyDeleteDon't know who will scroll back to read this today, but in my world it's 0015 Sunday morning and nothing seems to have changed.
RKOF might need to update this. Either the problem has been entirely solved, was never there in the first place, or the Feds just screwed it up in their usual manner and found out they couldn't shut anybody down after all.
BTW, I say that in a GOOD way!
