of nothing, I have another "succession" question.
I've periodically asked what would happen if California, say north of
Orange county, fell into the sea? Would congressmen from
from that
area be seated when the House next convened? I mean, they would
be
representing nobody.
Last time I brought this up, Pelosi was House Speaker. I deduced
that
she could stay as speaker regardless (until voted out by the
members)
since there is no constitutional requirement for the job. Hell,
you
could be elected Speaker (or Pope for that matter).
 Since
nobody could cite any applicable law or statute, this is an area that
needs to be addressed before chaos ensues—when it does happen.
Now I
have another question. Again, this is merely an academic exercise, on the order of "Death
of a President."
What if Joe Biden strangled Obama? Biden is a nut case, and
a
committed socialist, but I don't see him as someone who wants to be a
modern-day Rudolf Hess or Herman
Goering (second in command to a monster). That's what prompted
the
question. Of course, the second Obama breathed his
last, Vice
President Biden would assume the presidency. Could he
pardon
himself, and carry on? The best argument is yes, as long as he
does it before
he's
impeached. It appears I've answered my own question. It
would be a
win-win for Biden, but a terrible precedent for the country.

As long as part of a state remained, the number of House seats would not change until the next census. The question would be whether and when the state would reapportion those districts based on the remaining population.
ReplyDeleteIf Biden offed Obama, he could grant himself a pardon and his fate would be left up to impeachment. There are be enough Demonrats in the Senate to keep him in office rather than see Boehner president.

Juss to make sure the subsidy keeps going on his private railroad and he has a secure seat to work everyday.
If the dims ever regain control of Congress they could rename it . . .
