Stickin it to the man .. just because
Nanny
State: One regulation away from
total bliss
Damn
the Torpedoes
Because sometimes enough is enough
Rodger, you need a new file for "Missed the point entirely" I hate the we are told at the point of as gun, to wear our seat belts. It is overbearing bullshit. I spent my formative years responding to car wrecks, and later as an EMT fireman rendering aid to the occupants...I understand the effectiveness of seat belts. I despise that I live in a country that allows police to stop me on any public road and questioned and cited if I choose to not wear a seat belt. Big Brother can kiss my ass. RAK
Kids riding bicycles are required to wear helmets, car drivers are required to wear seat belts, but motorcyclists in Florida (and other places) are not required to wear helmets.

Go figure.....
What? You didn't notice the donor release form on the motorcycle endorsed license? All donor-cycle riders must sign it to ride w/o a helmet. Plus, no service in ER rooms is part of the package. You must walk into the main hospital for treatment, and medical insurance does not cover cycle accident injuries. tomw
I think Chesterton summed it up nicely... "The free man owns himself. He can damage himself with either eating or drinking; he can ruin himself with gambling. If he does he is certainly a damn fool, and he might possibly be a damned soul; but if he may not, he is not a free man any more than a dog."
Stupid is as stupid does.
ReplyDeleteWell of course; people who want to remain anonymous will take no chances.
ReplyDeleteI didn´t like seatbelts either. Then, I took my first, and hopefully, last trip through a windshield. Love ´em now.
ReplyDeleteThis really isn't about common sense. It's about the nanny ... never mind.
ReplyDeleteI a not saying that the British are smarter than we are but try getting away with wearing that t-shirt in England.

Freddy,
ReplyDeleteAs a passenger, maybe. As driver, not so much.

...cause we don't care if they die?
ReplyDelete... because they have fought for more of their own personal liberty and maintained it.
RAK nails the RKOF's point perfectly.
ReplyDeleteIf I want to drive without a helmet or seatbelt, then it's my own fucking business, not the business of some storm trooper or nanny state busy body.
I'm an adult and I can make my own fuckin' decisions and I'll pay for the consequences of my own bloody actions.
Oh man, this is one thing that really pisses me off.
RAK - I start to feel like I'm being too obtuse, then you to the rescue -- for the umpteenth time. Thanks
