scream-of-consciousness;
"If you're trying to change minds and influence people it's probably not a good idea to say that virtually all elected Democrats are liars, but what the hell."
They were Puritans. We are puerile. That's the difference and nothing else.
John Wesley led a revival in England fighting against the sophists of the enlightenment. God saved England, not geniuses. Take a hint conservative heathens wherever you may be because all your brain power and fine ideals are no match for those we fight.
End of sermon. And yes, I still want to hang them.
Oh, OK I guess you know about these things. I used "Puritan" as a generic for solid Bible believing Christians.. Washington was Anglican and as devout as they come, a puritan as were the rest of them. Men of great and abiding Christian faith founded this country. Puritans. Compared to "puerile" which is what we are I thought the play between the two words attractive. My apologies for using unfamiliar lingo. Jefferson was a tortured soul and by most accounts not Christian. But I hope they are wrong and that he made the cut. I hope you make the cut too.

I disagree.
ReplyDeleteIf they've successfully usurped power, by whatever means, they cannot be stupid.
Aided by idiots, certainly, but not idiots.
Don't underestimate the opposition.
I'd wear that on a tee-shirt.

ReplyDeleteWashington and Jefferson were Southerners, polar opposite of puritans.
