Pope Francis has
reaffirmed the Vatican's criticism of a body that represents U.S. nuns
which the Church said was tainted by "radical" feminism, dashing hopes
he might take a softer stand with the sisters.
Francis's predecessor, Benedict, decreed that the Leadership Conference
of Women Religious (LCWR), a group that represents more than 80 percent
of the 57,000 Catholic nuns in the United States, must change its ways,
a ruling which the Vatican said on Monday still applied.
Last year, a Vatican report said the LCWR had "serious doctrinal
problems" and promoted "radical feminist themes incompatible with the
Catholic faith", criticizing it for taking a soft line on issues such
as birth control and homosexuality.
I
suppose it would be un-Christian to take joy in all the
shit-hemorrhaging going on in media circles. Standing on
doctrine and principle being unknown in that circle, and all. Mea
culpa. / |

We need more Francis!
ReplyDeleteStand your ground.
On a side - my grandfather immigrated from Spain and always had a statue of St. Francis of Assisi in his gardens. As did my mother.
ReplyDeleteHard line my butt. St Paul in not so many words said to throw them out on their asses and let Satan have his way with them. I'm sure there are some openings in the porn movie business. That goes for those heathen priests I keep reading about as well. Oh, and Paul and Jan Crouch too by the way, just to be fair to those in the Church of Satan, Protestant Chapter. We wouldn't want to forget them.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry everyone, when Pope Francis passes away, we'll have a left wing African, or a woman as the next Pope. We keep hearing about it everytime there is another vote.
ReplyDeleteIn most mainline protestant churches, the African bishops are much more religously conservative than their European or American counterparts.
ReplyDeleteHuh? Religiously conservative? Never heard of it. Please explain.
ReplyDeleteThe more I read about Pope Francis, the more I like him. He is obviously humble, cares very much for the poor, and is willing to stand up to the forces of evil.
ReplyDeleteAlso unlike some American Presidents (Johnson, not Obama), he doesn't piss on the people who guard him. Instead, he brings them a chair, tells them to sit down, and brings them a snack.
Yep, meek. I like that about him but I wonder about his concept of "poor". Time will tell.
ReplyDelete"...soft line on issues such as birth control and homosexuality."
ReplyDeleteAhem.

To get a little background on Pope Francis, this article may shed some light:

Seems humble, with no pretension. Had purchased round-trip tickets, and traveled with no retinue.f
But is against class warfare...
Unlike our 'leader', Teh Won.

Religiously conservative means that they actually think that believing in Christ and paying special attention to the Bible is a prerequisite to being a Christian. You have to be strong in your beliefs to live in a continent where heavily armed Islamists are trying to kill you 24/7. Anglican bishops are appointed by the government and feel no compulsion to believe in anything. They are likely to side with the Islamists.
ReplyDeleteThanks Anon, I thought that's what you meant but I was curious to see how you worded it.
ReplyDeleteMy description would a little bit different but essentially the same. I agree with you that the Liberal pulpit is a cesspool regardless of the denomination and that the Africans in many ways are building on the foundation that Christ laid with gold and precious stones far and above most of us in the West. May God help them...and us.
