“You go through the gate. If the
gate’s closed, you go over the fence. If the fence is too high, we’ll
pole vault in. If that doesn’t work, we’ll parachute in. But we’re
going to get health care reform passed for the American people.”- Pelosi

“In
December, the final primary lead smelter in the United States will
close. The lead smelter, located in Herculaneum, Missouri, and owned
and operated by the Doe Run Company, has existed in the same location
since 1892.
The Herculaneum smelter is currently the only smelter in the United
States which can produce lead bullion from raw lead ore that is mined
nearby in Missouri’s extensive lead deposits, giving the smelter its
“primary” designation. [Full]

Between the EPA and Obamacare, Dems have unanswerable regulatory
apparatus in place to ban any damned thing they want in the name of
heath or the environment. If there's a peaceful way around this,
tell
us what it is. Now. |
They just don't want anyone to die of lead poisoning.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to get my ammo the same place I get my fully automatic rifle. This does appear to be a national security issue. Where is the GOP on this? Hey Ted, did you hear about this? Hey NRA, did you? Why isn't this news?
ReplyDeleteMay God damn them all to hell. Really.
That was Dave you linked to, not me. His post on the subject was more succinct than mine was, but I also wanted to point out how the lefties and the EPA wanted to screw over Doe Run while at the same time keeping them around to pay most of the taxes in the county. Now that they're closing, the chickens are coming home to roost, and the progs don't know who will fund the school system or who will even keep the water company in business. Looks like the whole town is going to go under, and maybe even the country.
ReplyDeleteAnd yeah, no lead for bullets is a) a national security issue, b) backdoor gun control, which may explain why the army is moving to a "green" tungsten core bullet and DHS and all it's minions bought up BILLIONS of rounds of conventional lead ammo. Everyone has known for a couple years now that Doe Run was closing, but not everyone has known that this was our last place to get fresh domestic lead. Now it will have to be imported (or not), subject to other country's politics and moderated by import tariffs et al. Which means the gov can shut the flow off whenever they feel like it.
county may go under, not country. Well, not yet anyway. Give Obama another 8 months.
ReplyDeleteFind those guys who smuggle on pot. This will be a LOT smaller, and a lot more profitable.
ReplyDeleteSo no more lead-acid car batteries made in the USA?
ReplyDeleteSorry Drew, I had you on my mind (I mean that is the manly way).
ReplyDeleteBalance your tires? That'll be $87.50 per wheel. You know, the cost of lead these days approaching that of gold & silver. We do have a special on uranium weights if you can live with the radiation...
ReplyDeletetowm
Not lead!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's my favorite element.
