Oh My

Similarly, I discovered that my daughter's First Communion video (with the only video of my grandma, who attended) was over recorded with The Brady Bunch.

  2. Yikes! One day they'll be sorry they did that. Might even be today.

  3. Well, who's to say that's actually what was on the tape.

  4. Our family videos with our late son are on some long obsolete format and scattered around the house in unknown locations. I just don't worry about it because I'll see him again in a far better place.

  5. Ah, Doug, the old label "The Devil in Miss Jones" as "Jimmy Carter SOTU, 1980" gambit. Works every time.

  6. Go to a swap meet, and watch the collections of lives dumped in the dustbins.

  7. Casca - I know what you mean. I've seen family photo albums at flea markets and antique stores containing dozens of fine pics from 1860's into early 1900's and think how sad, esp. given how much I wish I had something like that from my family. About 30 years ago, I found a long lost cousin, who told me she gave our family Bible to the Goodwill about 1940, because "that great big book was just too large for our tiny apartment." When I asked her if there were pages with names, she said "Oh yes, lots."
I still tear up over that one.

  8. Laugh. Definitely, laugh. Irreplaceable? Sure. Be happy it wasn't taken by a hurricane, or fire, or something. Besides, you got a Betamax laying around to play it on?
