Physics. The glass top was upside down, leaving it perched on the knob on the top. The counter slopes to the back and is smooth. The door is open or was opened and a gust of wind causes the top to spin, the spinning motion makes it move downhill on the sloped counter. Gravity makes it gain speed... Smash!
