A
prominent law professor and avowed supporter of the Obama White House
will tell the House on Wednesday that the president has created one of
the biggest constitutional crises in the country’s history and will
endorse House Republicans’ effort to sue to rein him in.
Jonathan
Turley,
a professor at George Washington University, will say President Obama
is trampling the founders’ vision for the country in his push to
circumvent Congress, and he will demand Republicans and Democrats alike
forget their party labels to unify against this White House’s power
grab.
“What we are witnessing today is one of the greatest challenges to our
constitutional system in the history of this country,” Mr. Turley said
in a prepared testimony, saying it began with previous presidents but
under Mr. Obama has “reached a constitutional tipping point that
threatens a fundamental change in how our country is governed.”

Pretty sure that when House Republicans are saying 'No.' to impeachment, they are really saying, 'Not yet.'
ReplyDeleteWe need to have the whole country on board, even moderate Democrats, before we can move.
This may be the last brick in the dyke. Or the first.
To be sure, Impeachment is a political process and today's GOP MOC don't do anything that might jeopardize their reelection. Check out these weasel words as an example of the courage the GOP are capable of these days.
ReplyDelete"I like Sarah Palin," Tennessee Rep. Jimmy Duncan told the conservative conclave, "but every political analyst says nothing will fire up the base of the Democratic Party like calling for impeaching [Obama]. It will also turn off some of the Democrats who are leaning our way."
That from House Conservatives Distance Themselves From Palin on Impeachment"
Plus, it puts Joe Biden in the left seat, with either Hilary or Nancy P. in the VP slot. That's almost worse than finishing out O'Blunder's term.

I do not agree .
ReplyDeleteNice to know Turley got such a good job late in his career. I remember him pitching for the Yankees years ago. He was nearly as good as Whitey Ford.
ReplyDeleteWhile Biden is not the sharpest pencil in the box, he's smart enough to fear. He's survived a long time as an operative in Washington and he'll geek to protect his ill gotten gains and cushy job opportunities if things go South in 2016. He has a survival instinct the Obama doesn't and rumor has it that he is not a fan of Kerry and doesn't want to see him in power even for a minute.

ReplyDeleteIn either case, the next critical appointment for Slow Joe to fill would be "Food Taster."
