The Stu Tarlowe and Skoonj machine offer
this:
We've
been awash of late in seemingly irresistible comparisons between Barack
Obama and appeasement's poster boy, Neville Chamberlain, the man who in
1938 sold out Czechoslovakia to Hitler in order to preserve "peace in
our time".
Here's a piece in today's American Thinker by Jeff Lipkes, which says,
"Let's
retire Neville Chamberlain's umbrella."
Lipkes is by no means the first to suggest that the Chamberlain/Obama
comparisons are flawed (I've been among those pointing out the
distinction between naiveté and evil intent). Nor is he the first to
compare Obama to Andreas Lubitz, the suicide pilot/mass murderer of
Germanwings Flight 9525 (see The Big Cheese, Friday, March 27,
2015).
Read the entire AT piece. But the first part of it is mere set-up, a
bit of a history lesson. Here is the "money quote":
But
let’s remember that Hitler never chanted “Death to Britain.”
Hitler
had not organized terrorist attacks on British forces, nor were his
proxies killing civilians across the world. He did not proclaim
that
the annihilation of a British ally was “non-negotiable.”
And he was
not a militant believer in a political religion whose followers had
twice invaded and ravaged Europe, a religion whose followers today
profess their disdain for Western values and Western culture.
Like Andreas
Lubitz, the
President knows what he’s doing. He does not believe the
Iranians, the
world’s third greatest oil exporters, are interested in generating
nuclear energy. He does not believe the mullahs will fail to
cheat on
any agreement, or fail to use the revenue flowing in with the lifting
of sanctions to fund global terrorism. He does not believe that
there
will be much will to re-impose sanctions on the part of countries
profiting from trade with Iran.
What the President
is
depressed about as he takes the country lower and lower is America’s
arrogance and America’s role as a neo-colonialist exploiter.
The prospective
agreement with Iran is not appeasement. It’s suicide.
At least we have
85 days to break through the cockpit door, not 13 minutes. (Stu)
Perhaps Mussolini would be a better analogy. Dunno, I hadn't thought about it until now. Mussolini was a socialist turned fascist (probably for the cool uniforms, Roman Empire mythology, marketing). He was a rival but admired by Hitler (and the US Progressive movement). Mussolini was a colonialist wannabe, though. I don't see that as much of an objection, since Obama seems to want to remove our borders, but how does that differ from wanting to hold sway over those lands beyond our borders. Needs more thought, sorry.
ReplyDeleteDougM: "Mussolini was a socialist turned fascist"
ReplyDeleteSocialist and fascist are of the same blood. No need for a "turn".
I make the Mussolini connection every time I see Obama in his chin-thrust-upward-arms-folded (as if he's channelling Mussolini) pose. I also think of Obama as Mussolini every time I see a gas station; if only...
ReplyDeleteCaballero Andante
Caballero Andante - I think the same things. It's been a few years, but there used to be an Exxon (Esso) station not far from the Black House on M street.

Skoonj,
ReplyDeleteYeah, that was my point.
Re-reading the sentence, though,
I see I didn't quite make it.
Of course, I knew ahead of time
how it was s'post'a turn out.
(What? Oh, okay, from now on, I'll spend
more'n 5 min composing my thoughts.)
Soetoro is the Largest Fraud perpetrated on the Nation. Period. Toilet Paper thin Resume, Sealed Records and has wreaked total destruction on both Foreign and Domestic Policy, Alienated Allies and being an Economic Illiterate and a Racist has set the Nation back 100 years. Period. All of his Friends are tax cheats, traitors and America Haters.
ReplyDeleteHis Iran Deal and Bergdahl trade further illustrates his imeptitude as a leader. The award of a Nobel Prize to this man degrades the value of Nobel Prizes. To be honest, Nobel should have stuck to making explosives and Soetoro should have stuck to being a Voter Fraud criminal in Chicago.
Re the above comment: the entire notion of rejecting the comparisons with Chamberlain is that the Iran and Bergdahl "deals" are NOT the result of "ineptitude"; Chamberlain may have been inept but Obama is calculating and is implementing an anti-American, anti-Western Civilization agenda.
ReplyDeleteChamberlain didn't say Peace in our time. He said, "Peace for our time". Probably because of the media who are either lazy or ignorant. Hell they don't even correctly pronounce Liposuction or Mesothelioma. Idiots.
ReplyDeleteHell, Bogie didn't say "Play it again, Sam" either. Armstrong didn't say "One small step for man…" History is full of misquotes.
ReplyDeleteBut media whores don't correctly pronounce "liposuction" because they're preoccupied with "lip(s) o'suction".
