Nighthawks II

art is everywhere

If you're wondering about my chronic absences; it's because I am consumed with getting my book finished in time for Christmas, and tending to other art projects.

Over the past 40 years or so I've written about 6 books and at least 20 short stories. Lost track of the poems, as well as the articles, parodies, criticisms, and such.

Finally occurred to me that nobody really gave a fig about my stuff, so I kinda gave it up . . . 'cept for my rants and blogmenting.

Last 3 novellas I wrote were ritualistically burned page by page in a burn barrel in the back yard -- very cathartic. Kinda like confession; I let the characters grow organically and on occasion they told me things about myself I didn't particularly want anyone else to know about.

Kept me off the streets and outta the bars, tho. Great for rainy days, especially in winter.

I'm glad you're writing. It's the only thing that separates us from snails, and other garden pests, like Democrats.

That's probably the swankiest greasy spoon I ever saw.

@poletax,
it's Edward Hopper's oil-on-canvas "Knighthawks", from 1942.

I have a cheap print of Hoppers work.
Mine doesn't have a Dutch girl pouring wine.
I like Rogers better.

You are more eagle-eyed than am I; well seen!

The girl is "the Milkmaid" by Vermeer. Anybody who ever studied art should know that.
