Parkinson disease cure?
... amazing effects of new treatment for Parkinson disease.
My uncle had one of those systems implanted years ago (I want to say more than a decade). He's similar in age to Michael J. Fox, and was diagnosed with Parkinson's near the time Fox was. The deep brain stimulator system worked really well for several years; he was even able to drive a car again for a while (bought a new one once the DBS and meds were balanced and working well). But sadly Parkinson's is a degenerative disease, so he's back at the point where he can't drive anymore, and has times when he can't walk. It's not a cure, but it's a good treatment.
