- High-school Nerd (Nat Wolff)
enters into a friendship with his neighbor, Ashby (Mickey Rourke),
a retired CIA assassin who only has a few months to live. The film is
a coming of age, approaching death comedy drama.
Two Things
- I'm trying to think of a Mickey Rourke
movie I've seen where he didn't play some psycho. Maybe
Diner. Well, this is one, but it is touch and go.
- Who in god's name would cast Sarah
Silverman as Ed Wallis's mother? Albeit a nymphomaniac. And
make it work? Director Tony McNamara got away with it.
MoSup picked this movie last night, and I loved
it (so did she, but
less so perhaps). You just have to go with it, like the cheesy football
game scenes. And accept that a 17 year old girl has a MRI machine
in
her basement (her dad being a neurologist) and uses it like a toy. Did
I
say very cute 17 year old girl?
Quirky.
I'm pretty certain you'll watch it to the end, and not feel cheated. We
watched on Netflix.
