Published on May 2, 2016 Jimmy takes a moment to talk about climate change and the confusing political argument that has emerged around it. NASA says that 97 percent of climate scientists agree that the warming we are experiencing is very likely due to human activity - but some politicians still want us to believe it’s all a hoax. So we enlisted the help of real climate scientists to clear some things up for us. I recently watched ESPN's Kevin Cowherd give pretty much the very same (scripted?) speech.  I was thinking, YTF is this a topic for a sports show? I also recently ran across HBO's 'Confirmation;' a re-work of the Clarance Thomas/Anita Hill hearings, now turned on their head.  Post hearings polls, across all demographics, showed that a number  approaching 80% thought Anita Hill was a liar. Two years later, after a spate of television shows (like Golden Girls) made her a heroine, those polls almost reversed. A  2009 Rasmussen poll found that 40 percent of young Americans  view The Daily Show and Colbert's Report as their news source. My kids, and I'll bet yours, are Face Book Tweeters, which worlds exclude any ideas that counter the herd mentality. In my view, we are as a nation irrevocably cleaved. Critical thinking?  Forget about it. I don't have a solution that would be at all acceptable. Our night of the long knives is at least 50 years overdue. Call me grumpy.
