Snowden

State USA
The full episode of VICE on
HBO's 'State of Surveillance'
When
NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden leaked details of massive government
surveillance programs in 2013, he ignited a raging debate over digital
privacy and security. That debate came to a head this year, when Apple
refused an FBI court order to access the iPhone of alleged San
Bernardino Terrorist Syed Farook. Meanwhile, journalists and activists
are under increasing attack from foreign agents. To find out the
government's real capabilities, and whether any of us can truly protect
our sensitive information, VICE founder Shane Smith heads to Moscow to
meet the man who started the conversation, Edward Snowden.
I've
been conflicted over Snowden from day one. Probably because,
historically, it's been Leftist Democrats, like “Leaky
Leahy,” Ted
Kennedy, and John Kerry,
who've used privileged information against the interests of the
country. The Third Amendment disallows government quartering
of troops in our homes, even in time of war. However, today's
technology
is so advanced (yet still unable to find a President's valid birth
certificate) that, in effect, we have spies quartered in our
attics,
phones, automobiles—you
name it; collecting thoughts, words, deeds, and locations that are
placed in our "permanent records." So, good on him.
Hey, say what you will about Snowden, but when I realized Obama was NOT willing to cut him a deal, the choice was easy. It's the reverse barometer thing.
Okay. Back when all this Snowden stuff hit the fan, I originally called him a hero for being an anti-intrusive federal government combatant. But why did he go to Russia?
Well, since the US had successfully blocked asylum everywhere else, it fell to Putin to have fun with us and rub it in. Antway, what intel could Snowden possibly impart to them that he wasn't dumping publicly? Just saying.
You know Rodge, Putin has had a pretty fun time poking us in the eye since Odumba has been bowing, so of course Putin would welcome Snowden and the (White House) media would suggest a Falcon (and the Snowman)scenario.
