The Harlem Hellfighters; Woodrow Wilson*spit* wouldn't allow blacks to fight in combat arms, but only serve as ditch-digging laborers, so the French accepted the regiment, and they were indeed fighters from hell. They were one of the most highly decorated regiments in the AEF. All those in the pic have a year overseas and the Croix de Guerre, a French award for valor.
