Thank you, Gadfly! I thought it was by "The 5 Satins"; I'd never heard of Fred Parrish and I never knew the group was Black. But it's one of the all-time greatest Oldies But Goodies, right up there alongside "Tonight, Tonight" by the Mello Kings. And when crooning it on the streetcorner or stoop we often sang the "alternative" background: Instead of "Shoo doo 'n' shooby doo...", we'd go "Shut up and shove it up…"!
