There was a time, and not long ago, when most Muslims in most Muslim countries (not talking about Sordid Arabia and their Wasabi Islam) were not the animals they have become. I went to Tehran several times in the 1970s, prior to the arrival of the monsters. In fact, the Shah did a pretty good job of controlling the monsters, till his illness and Carter combined to leave him too weak to do his job.
ReplyDeleteIn those days, women were not subjugated as they are today. Empress Farah was in charge of women's equality, and they wore whatever was normal in the West. No burkas or any such hideous outfits that are required today.
In those days, Iran had three beer breweries, and they didn't catch static from the goat fuckers. And if you stayed in a hotel, you could be served alcohol without a second look.
The goat fuckers knew that if they attacked the breweries, or the women, there was an outfit just for them: SAVAK! Those were the good old days. But I knew that would eventually go, just as O'Malley ripped the Dodgers from Brooklyn.
Exactamente, el Skoonjo! The people that SAVAK kept in line (with some frankly brutal tactics) were the very mullahs that now run the country (and have taken brutality to a whole new level). The beginning of the decline and fall of Iran can be lain at the feet of Jimmy Carter.
