This morning, for no particular reason, I
realized I
hadn't heard from Tom Mann for awhile. So I did a mail search and, lo,
Wed,
Apr 11, 6:43 AM was the last e-mail received. This was during a time
when everything on my computer was full of cancer, and it went
unread.
Anyway, with a certain amount of dread I searched Tom Mann Obit.

Shit.
Tom rode his bike around the DC area nearly every day, and took a
sht-load of pictures —
all of which he sent to me. For at least the last 12-15 years, maybe longer. I mean, I
had many thousands [Small Sample], and this, remember, went back to the days of
this.
So, many went into a file unread, and were eventually trashed
with old
e-mails.
Tom's other passion was the Washington Redskins.
He had two
season tickets, and sent me game pics after every home game. Must
have been many hundreds. He offered me every
so often, but I told him I was too used to my refrigerator full of beer
and an easy chair.
"Tom," I once wrote, "Why don't you turn these pictures into a
series
of coffee table books; you'd make a fortune." But, he wouldn't be
bothered. Maybe Tom thought that I would be the keeper of his pictorial
legacy, and they would live on forever. Now, like all of my old
baseball cards, I wish to hell I'd saved them all. Not
because they
were worth money, but because they were an irreplaceable history of a
time.
I'm in the process of searching all my old files for survivors, (Not
like the eagle picture that I reduced to 640x480 stamp) which I will
then post. God bless you Tommy
GUN Mann; I hope too meet you someday on the other side.
