Liberals Urge Southern Secession
Call Southern Conservatives "neo-Confederates"

The nation would be better off if Southern states seceded from the union, and Republicans pushing for right-to-work, voter ID laws and other reforms are “neo-Confederates” according to a candid exchange between a major Democratic donor and liberal organizers on Gamechanger Salon.

The forum, a secretive and exclusive digital gathering of over 1,000 leftwing leaders, activists and journalists, was recently made public by Media Trackers, and email exchanges between members offer fascinating insights into the group’s inner deliberations.

“For more than 100 years, the South has been dumbing down national politics, tilting the country in a conservative direction, supporting militarism, all while demanding huge financial subsidies from blue states. It would be 100% fine with me if the South was a separate nation, pursuing its own priorities and destiny. And if people like you succeed in blunting the conservatism of the South, more power to you.”
Gamechanger Salon participant Jon Stahl sparked a conversation last October about the role of the South in American politics when he posted a link to Michael Lind’s piece for Salon magazine entitled The South is Holding America Hostage. “I thought this was an impressive (if tough) piece of big-picture political strategy and prescription,” Stahl explained before remarking, “Would be interested to hear others’ opinions of whether he is on target or way off…and if so what that might imply.”

First to respond was Guy Saperstein, a wealthy California mega-donor to Democratic candidates and leftwing causes. “In the alternative, could we just let the South secede?” the part owner of the Oakland Athletics baseball team queried.

He was serious.

“My comment was not made in jest at all,” Saperstein wrote in a follow-up explanation. He expanded on his theory:

“For more than 100 years, the South has been dumbing down national politics, tilting the country in a conservative direction, supporting militarism, all while demanding huge financial subsidies from blue states. It would be 100% fine with me if the South was a separate nation, pursuing its own priorities and destiny. And if people like you succeed in blunting the conservatism of the South, more power to you.”

Saperstein is not a fringe activist hiding out on the far reaches of the left. He’s a well-heeled funder of Democratic campaigns, a former president of the Sierra Club Foundation, and founder of The Patriotic Millionaires, a group of self-conscious millionaires begging the government to raise their taxes.

"For more than 100 years dumbing down national politics, tilting the country in a conservative direction, supporting militarism, all while demanding huge financial subsidies from blue states!"  And, OMFG! We want people to show ID before they vote?  OMFG!  We really are the debil.

In all seriousness though, at this point the gulf between Liberals and us Old School Americans is so wide as to be uncrossable.  There is no unobtainium that will change things.  But, it is they who have violated their vows, and so it is they who must leave the house in this divorce.  We will be the USA, and they can be whatever the hell they want.  Eventually they will fall apart amidst rampant crime and squalor, and there will come a D-Day, and a new beginning under old rules.

The political party that advocated slavery and secession is now calling the party that effectively destroyed slavery in the US 'neo-confederates'.
The GOP was formed in Ripon, WI, with one major plank being the elimination of slavery.
Now, the democrats are keeping the poor as welfare slaves to the party and the State. Promises are made, but never kept. Not even when the old pols die are their vassals freed from their servitude.

I think what he meant was red states. All red states are not the south, but all should escape the central government. A parting like Norway and Sweden is in order. Or, we could just go back to Federalism "Free and Independent States...." as intended. -Anymouse

All the New England States plus New York should secede. They could move the entire DC infrastructure to the new capital of the Union of Soviet Socialist States in Boston.

I think that would be enough to tip the Electoral College in our favor.

We would use the current U.S. Constitution, which shouldn’t be a problem since nobody is using it now.

Liberal Plantation

De Blasio’s Prekindergarten Expansion Collides With Church-State Divide

[...] The biblical story of Noah’s Ark will be taught, without mention of who told Noah to build it. Challah, the Jewish bread eaten on the Sabbath, will be baked, but no blessings said over it. Some crucifixes will be removed, but others left hanging.

These are the kinds of church-state gymnastics that New York City and some religious schools are performing as Mayor Bill de Blasio expands government-funded prekindergarten. Because of inadequate public school capacity, the de Blasio administration has been urging religious schools and community organizations to consider hosting the added programs.

But the push is raising fresh questions for civil libertarians concerned about church-state issues, and for the schools themselves, which want to help the city and qualify for its roughly $10,000-per-student tuition payments while preserving some of the faith-based elements that attract their main clientele.

The city is now asking those schools to consider converting their government-subsidized programs to a full day, or six hours 20 minutes, of secular instruction. Richard R. Buery Jr., the deputy mayor in charge of the prekindergarten expansion, said the shift was part of the mayor’s push “to create a single, unified, high-quality system.
The concerns crystallized in a one-page document the city issued in May to religious schools weighing whether to host full-day prekindergarten classes. Rather than state simply, as other municipalities have, that all religious instruction is prohibited, the city’s guidelines say that religious texts may be taught if they are “presented objectively as part of a secular program of instruction.” Learning about one’s culture is permitted, city officials say, but religious instruction is not.

[....]

Religious symbols are not permitted in areas used by city-funded prekindergarten students. A mezuza on a doorway would generally be allowed, but if it had a Jewish star on the outside, it would have to be evaluated in context: If it was small, it would probably be fine, said Maya Wiley, the counsel to the mayor who helped develop the guidelines.

City officials point out that there is nothing new about religious organizations’ housing publicly funded prekindergarten programs; Catholic schools and other faith-based organizations already host half-day versions. But those programs present fewer potential legal problems, because the schools can deliver secular education during one half of the day and religious instruction during the other, when parents, not the city, are paying.

The city is now asking those schools to consider converting their government-subsidized programs to a full day, or six hours 20 minutes, of secular instruction. Richard R. Buery Jr., the deputy mayor in charge of the prekindergarten expansion, said the shift was part of the mayor’s push “to create a single, unified, high-quality system.” [Full]

Not sure about the point. Fact is the "ark" was round (Babylonian texts describe it in great detail but don't mention Noah). The ark-builder in the Babylonian tablet was a Sumerian king named Atram-Hasis. That’s a strange detail to get wrong in an account written in a tablet that was written some 700 years before Genesis was written.

  A Bridge Too Far?

Stu,

So, Jimmy Carter calls for Hamas to be recognized. Mind-boggling, until you realize that what follows is a Hamas Embassy in D.C. (paid for with American aid, of course) and an American Embassy in Gaza.

Hamas can then not only hide their rockets but fire them from the buildings surrounding the American Embassy. The clowns at Obama's State Department can then complain that dust from Israel's shelling of those buildings makes it hard to keep their limousines nice and shiny.

Of course, Hamas would then become part of the United Nations Human Rights Commission. The good folks in the Commission could then say "I feel your pain" to Hamas in person. Hamas officials could park anywhere in NYC at no charge. I'm sure the Commission would do its best to make them feel at home.

This sure sounds like a plan Pelosi can embrace... being "fair" to Hamas (with Qatar as her biggest cheerleader) at the expense of Israel.

Why is Jimmy Carter doing this? Is he that afraid that Barack Obama will take his place as America's worst president? I guess now we can have Obama as America's weakest president and Carter as America's craziest president.

Cheers, (via Skoonj)

That missive reminds me of yesterday's "Stars Face Hollywood Backlash in War of Words Over Israel.
“But for the most part, Hollywood's power brokers -- including those who have raised money for pro-Israel causes, such as Barbra Streisand, Jeffrey Katzenberg and Steven Spielberg -- have avoided public comments on the conflict. Nor has there been criticism of other industry figures, including Jon Stewart, director Jonathan Demme and Mark Ruffalo, who have voiced nuanced concerns about Israel's military action in Gaza while supporting the nation in general. "I don't know why more prominent Hollywood people don't speak out about what's going on there," Stern said on his radio show July 28. "They're all afraid." Hollywood political donor Haim Saban, one of the industry's biggest Israel supporters, echoed those sentiments. "I don't understand this myself," Saban told the Jewish Journal on Aug. 1. "But starting today, I will be working the phones to enlist the vocal support of people who I know have an interest in supporting our staunchest ally in the region -- which also happens to be the only democracy in the region."
These gaggle of monied and influential Jews are largely responsible for bankrolling the Carter, Clinton, and Obama presidencies (and today's Democrat party!).  Presidents and a party who were and are openly (if you have eyes) hostile to Israel.  Carter and Obama are outright Jew haters; Bill and Hillary* more nuanced, but still have always sided away from Israeli goals.  In the meanwhile, Ronald Reagan and Bush 43 were the best friend Israel have had, but were vilified by this lot.

And for chrissake, who stands to lose the most with the ascendancy of Islamic influence worldwide?  That's right; Jews and Gays.  Both so blinded by a misguided sense of liberalism, or a giddy celebration of acceptance that the left are able to play them like a banjo, same as  they do all  on the Liberal plantation.  The thing is, we all suffer as a consequence of this foolishness.  The question, I fear,  is Obama  already a bridge too far.
*Dick Morris claimed that Hillary called him a "f---ing Jew b------" after Bill Clinton lost his race for Congress 26 years ago.  Morris  passed a lie-detector test arranged by the New York Post.

JIMMAH CAHTUH: A Study in Spineless Indecision and Ignorance in Positions of Prominence.

Because of gross oversight and clerical error, he was admitted to the US Naval Academy despite its policy against enrolling feeble-minded jerkoffs. Through continuing administrative malfeasance, he took a BS degree and commenced his personal crusade to transform the United States into a weak, socialist, third-rate paper tiger.

He followed up his BS degree with work in nuclear physics and engineering, which prepared him marvelously for dealing with lying, posturing, double-dealing, US-hating, Middle Eastern terrorists. His first book, Why Not The Best? looks into the reasons he failed so miserably and consistently as president. He pushed legislation which would protect various animals already doomed by nature and cause thousands of people their jobs. He promoted quotas for minorities in governmental jobs and college admissions, and sacrificed American prestige and hostages for a shot at the Nobel Peace Prize. He was key in abandoning the country’s claim on the Panama Canal, and spent most of his energies meddling in the internal affairs of other nations by criticizing their human rights policies. A poor farm boy from rural Georgia, he rose to the pinnacle of Worst President in the 20th century, all by himself, and is damned proud of it.

Had he not been born in a rural area of America, he would have been a perennial favorite for Monty Python’s “Upper-Class Twit of the Year” award. His mother apparently was not present at his birth, and he has gone through his adult life as an antique, expired consciousness completely unworthy of resuscitation. My secret suspicion is that he is some sort of Neanderthal cross with a jackass.

Jimmy Carter actually believes that Bill Clinton was a great president who never should have been impeached. In fact, Carter remains convinced that Clinton never lied, since his understanding of oral sex is just talking dirty. It’s entirely possible that the bones in his head never stopped calcifying when the rest of his body reached adulthood.

This animated wad of intellectually anemic protoplasm has a credibility rating on a par with professional wrestling. He makes Dan Quayle sound like a modern Plato. He’s the quintessential walking advertisement for birth control. In fact, I’m just wasting my time here, ‘cause his mother summed it all up very nicely:

“Sometimes when I look at all my children, I say to myself, ‘Lillian, you should have stayed a virgin.’"

Another "American Civil War " analogy just struck me.  Democrat lobbying to grant  statehood to Puerto Rico and Washington D.C. are blatant attempts to add two more slave states to our "Bleeding Union."

Most people won't remember when FDR threatened to 'pack the court', appointing favorable Supreme Court justices so he'd have a compliant majority on the bench who wouldn't strike down his plans.

They won't remember the 'Missouri Compromise' that said for each 'free' state joining the Union, a 'slave' state would also join so that the balance of government would not tilt.

But adding DC and PR, that's two in the Left's column and aside from splitting Texas, there's no way for the Right to counteract.

We ain't voting our way out of this.

That got me thinking ... {Yeah, I know, danger danger danger}...
It seems that LARGE chunks of the electoral college, HUGE, go to one party, and essentially make a large percentage of voters essentially un-represented. This has happened in CA, as their House has a super-democrat majority, which can pass tax bills at will. Voted into place by the following scenario.
I heard on the radio yesterday that only 37% of the CA populace works for private industry after you subtract those working for government, i.e., teachers, cops, etc. And 18% of them pay taxes. The taxes that pay for the government workers. The low wage earners, untaxed, and some higher wage earners, government types, vote for the taxes to go up, and that small minority then pays, unrepresented in Sacramento. Mathematically, it seems to me that the 18% that pay taxes, i.e. make above minimum wage, are providing the wages for the other 63%, after all, the CA government doesn't actually MAKE anything, or produce anything of value.
Multiply that by 49 more states....
However, there seems to be a problem in that those voters who make money and are taxed are finding they can leave. They are doing so. Soon there will be the ultra-rich living in their caged communities, surrounded{maybe} by the unpaid unwashed that cannot afford to move, and live on the largesse of the government. No body in the middle... Taxed Enough Already...
See the posts of Victor Davis Hanson on pjmedia.com. He nails it.

As late as 1959, American blacks were in favor of education. The Coasters released Charley Brown that year, about a black kid who fooled around in school, and was considered the bad egg.

By the late 1960s, black youth in schools were considered race traitors if they studied and tried to do well. The left encouraged the use of "ebonics" as though it was a real language, thus shuttimg black youth off from higher education and employment.

That and welfare killed the black community. Both products of liberal democrats.

The Liberal elite

How did the television show begin? "There are eight million stories in the wretched county ...?"

I'm sure every state has a Montgomery County. You know, where the state's liberal elite live.  In Virginia it's Fairfax Co;  in Texas,  I'll guess whatever county Austin is in.  Anyway, almost all of Maryland's Liberal horror stories begin in our Montgomery County.  A collection of old money, but mostly new liberal wealth derived from government contract dependent businesses.  Where state tax lucre are disproportionally funneled to maintain very generous government services, exquisite school campi, and buried power lines. And stuff like this.

“Occupy MoCo!,” one of the newest courses at Montgomery College in Montgomery County, Md., is part of the Summer Youth program offered for 2012.

In his E-mail alert, El Jefe said  "I.m surprised this wasn't Prince Georges County."  No, PG County is more the liberal plantation to Montgomery's manor house.  They'd be more into drive-by shootings than something as civilized as college credit anarchy.

Austin is in Travis county, and you're right.

Jackson Hole in Wyoming.

You're right about Prince Georges and Montgomery Counties. I lived in Germantown which is in the People's Republic of Montgomery back when Germantown was considered country. The Prince George population supplied the criminals and we supplied the loot.

Rodge, as always, you're quite right.

Isn't Jackson Hole, WY located in Jackhole County?

If we could nuke just Travis County (Austin) and Harris County (Houston), Texas would be an immeasurably better place to live.

I just need 20 minutes' warning so I can get Combat Controller and Trevor out (and Trev's on the road most of the time, so just CC, who lives near the Travis County border with the United States anyway).

Juan Williams Fired By NPR
For Agreeing With O'Reilly
“No one I know wants to insult Muslims, but many are tired of the political correctness surrounding the 9/11 attack.” His example: “Did we say, in World War II, ‘We were attacked by “Japanese extremists”? [...] No: we said we were attacked by ‘Japanese.’” Bill O'Reilly on the VIEW

Two VIEW skanks (Behar and Whoopi ) walked off the set after guest Bill O'Reilly said that he would no longer indulge in PC, because it inhibited  truth.  Said Wild Bill, look, Muslums attacked on 9/11!  (Note: I learned about it from MoSup, because I don't watch the View.) Anyway, the View is a inconsequential forum. The only people who watch are liberal loons - like people who run NPR, and people waiting for the inevitable train wreck.

So, that night (Monday) screeching liberal Juan Williams is a guest on O'Reilly.

Williams [to O'Reilly] “Well, actually, I hate to say this to you because I don’t want to get your ego going. But I think you’re right. I think, look, political correctness can lead to some kind of paralysis where you don’t address reality.

“I mean, look, Bill, I’m not a bigot. You know the kind of books I’ve written about the civil rights movement in this country. But when I get on the plane, I got to tell you, if I see people who are in Muslim garb and I think, you know, they are identifying themselves first and foremost as Muslims, I get worried. I get nervous.”

Yup.  That's it.  Fired by taxpayer enabled NPR for straying off the reservation.  Maybe - finally, public radio, and television, and any of the other myriad advocacy groups will be freed to make it on their own, without any taxpayer funding.

Juan, I guess you now know who your friends really are.

~
#####
Sometime in 2013 at Fox:
Hey Juan we've got an app from an Ima Twat that say's she used to work with you at NPR. What's your opinion?"
"@#$%^&* her."

~
#####
I don't like his politics, but he's as close to a real reporter/fair minded commentator as they come. This is chickenshit, but that's NPR, which needs to be off the air by this evening.

~
#####
No surprise here. Muslims and illegals are the new Civil Rights movement in la-la minds.

~
#####
Time to show Juan Williams some support. Generally, he makes a good punching bag for Bill O'Reilly and can be counted on to be a flaming idiot-liberal.

~
#####
My local public tv station called last night looking for a donation and I told them when they rehired Juan Williams, we could talk. And not to call before then.

What a bunch of crap when something I am paying for through my taxes but also through free will donations has the effrontery to violate one of the Amendments to our Constitution! That is just pure bullshit.

~
#####
Juan is the closest thing to an intellectually honest Leftist on TV.
I figured he had a target on his back ever since he lamented for his friend Tony Snow.
I want my tax dollars back- EVERY PENNY that went to support NPR.
RAK

#####
Oh my, they fired a black man, RAYCIST RACISM, play that race card...what? He don't get a race card? Why, he's black aint he? Conservative blacks don't get a race card? Not black enough? Well then, I guess that's different.

~
#####
Soros is purging NPR, so he can stack the deck with his new propagan ... I mean, journalists.

Oh, in WW-II, they said, "We were attacked by the Japs."

~
#####
To think, I actually used to listen to NPR and thought it was good. I went so far as to pledge too. Boy was I stupid. I don't like a lot of what Juan has to say but, I defend his right to say it. Apparently, NPR does not value free speech now do they??? Well, they will get no money from me (haven't for 5 years) and they will not have me as a listener either. Soros indeed....they can kiss my rosy red ass!

Have you looked at the salaries the NPR News biggies are soaking up?!
Not to mention the orgy of stimulus money NPR gets from your generous taxes.

Think about that the next time they're begging for your last dime
to support their lefty agitprop.
.

~
#####
Vermont & NY public radio has saturated the airwaves here in the Champlain Valley and Adirondack Park. I call them during begging week and tell them I will donate when they start saying "VPR is brought to you by taxpayers like you". They chuckle and hang up.

Javert

~
#####
Oh please. Juan is an idiot. His thinking is so shallow, it's painful to listen to him. Didn't you notice Hume and Krauthhammer laughing him off?

Of course Lefties know this too. He was an embarrassment to the Revolution. Bang.

~
#####
I wish I could just file this under liberals trying to suppress dissenting views, but I don't think that's the case. I think NPR--like most liberals in the Television-Print media--is scared to death of moslem retaliation. Moslems--through the cowardice of liberals in the T-P media and through outright threats--are slowly revoking our first amendment rights. They're stifling free speech, limiting freedom of the press, and all the while making it seem like it's our fault. And they're succeeding.

I'm only human. Sorry.
Rice rolled her eyes at the notion that Obama is a closet Muslim, and she defended him from criticism - led by former vice president Richard B. Cheney - that Obama has weakened the country. "Nothing in this president's methods suggests this president is other than a defender of America's interests," Rice told an audience that included presidential adviser Valerie Jarrett. [Looks like Stockholm Syndrome sent her back to the plantation]

Aside: Google removed the wookie picture from general Michelle search results. You have to say "wookie"

This is the same NASA committee person who asked during a JPL tour if the Mars rover could drive to where Armstrong planted the American flag.

Calling her dumber than a box full of hammers is an insult to perfectly good carpentry tools.

Kristopher, that is why Rodger always says, "Dumber than a box of Boxers." There's no insult to useful hand tools that way and you get to set the bar even lower.
