America's enemy within

Though tempted to cut short my reading, I persevered, and my patience was rewarded. For in closing his column, Kuttner cut loose with a bit of over-the-top rhetoric worthy of Soros on steroids: "If the Democrats do take back even one House, they can be thankful that the country has veered back from the precipice of despotism." The "are liberals patriotic?" debate has become a stale one, so let's not engage it here. But I would certainly say that anyone who sees the United States as teetering on the brink of totalitarianism inhabits a country entirely different from the one I know and love. It's not that Kuttner writes this crap.  It's that he believes it.  And has an audience.  I used to think that a great national emergency could serve to bring us together again, but no more.  Katrina was used as a cudgel by leftists determined to ruin Bush.  When we are again assaulted by Islamo fascists, the left will, more than likely, continue to side with them.  The time for that civil war that Thomas Jefferson recommended is 32 years past due, and I fear too late. I'm going to eat meat, use hair spray, and generate methane gas in volume (sorry dear).  Take that.
