Get Over It?

What If You Can't?


The Real Queen of France just volunteered that two things ruined her faith in our (the nation) ability to do the right thing.

  1. The OJ trial verdict
  2. Marion Barry's election in DC  after he was released from prison.
My own moment of disillusionment came after Rep. Adam Clayton Powell (D Harlem) stopped the movement in the House to expel him (a second time), by threatening to squeal on them.

    Bush the first, not going into Baghdad when we had the field and the players, ca. 1991. The US kowtowed to the UN, to our shame and our continued war.

    The US Senate not confirming John Bolton as ambassador to the UN, and Bush the second not insisting on that. Garr, we're gonna be missing that moustache in time to come.

    When judges over-ruled CA voters (64%) not to make gay marriage legal.
    When CA judge ruled illegal homeschooling; exception, parents certified by State.
    Seriously.

    When Bush would not use the "...nuclear..." option and break the childish fillibuster on Gonzalez. He had the votes and they were ready. Just waiting his word.

    But he balked and reached across the aisle. And when the first hand touched across that aisle, they won. And have every since.

    Reaching across the aisle is surrender and death. And now we will pay the tab.

    Senate Democrats promising to vote for Impeachment if the facts presented themselves. Almost to a one they voted against.

    THAT is why I voted for Bob Barr. I owed him that at the very least.

    In Florida the lines were horrendous. I drove by several voting stations and felt good that I ordered an absentee ballot. One thought struck me each time. "Somewhere in that line is stupid dork waiting to vote for Bob Barr." What a maroon.
