There has been tens of trillions in unfunded obligations for decades.

It's always the same: election posturing, bullshit analysis, promises of change, solutions that require courage and the sniveling rat bastards hide away while the country slides into oblivion.

I say it's time to grab the first politician, or bureaucrat, for a tar and feathering.

The government has promised pension and health benefits worth more than $700,000 per retired civil servant. The pension fund's key asset: federal IOUs.

After Social Security was amended in the late 80s, resulting in an increase in taxes, a lowering of benefits and an increase in retirement age, people sued. The Supreme Court ruled that Congress has the authority to change entitlements whenever they want to say "Never mind!".

At some point they'll do what every other European/socialist country has done: Zero out the books, pretend it all never happened and switch to New Dollars or Ameros.

Of course that'll mean wiping out everything you own or have saved and putting everyone back to working as serfs for the Democratic Prime Ministers (who have lifetime appointments).

But hey 'ya gotta break a few eggs to make an omlet....

It's only 61 trillion. That's only 122 acres filled with pallets of $100 bills.

If I may parse a bit, the Federal gubment has unfunded debt of a krazillion.

Down here on the big sand bar, I'm prepared to exchange my gold for Florida dollars or whatever. Buh Bye Federali's. You broke yourself. I'll be just fine.
