OK then, I say we start immediately with Air Force 1.

Panetta comes from the communist left, so this is no surprise. There are things that can be cut in defense, but medical and retirement benefits aren't among them. We have a volunteer military, and these items are high on the incentive list for those who join. Cancel an aircraft carrier battle group, cancel some F-35s, but without medical and retirement benefits we will be going back to the draft.

Good deal. WTSHTF these guys are going to be a little less willing to shoot me and a little more willing to shoot the "authorities".

Skoonj, On Aug 1st, they deactivated CSG-7, so now we're down to nine.

Col. Whiskey, that was a good thing. They have more building, right?

what happens to CVN-76 then?

A deal is a deal.

It's always the feds who will screw you over.

I believe CVN-76 (to undergo an upgrade) will switch CSG's with CVN-72. Plus, we will be down to 10 ships after the USS Enterprise retires in a 2013.

They've already cut retirement benefits - since I've retired I've lost eye care and dental care, and gone to an insurance plan where I pay a premium for the insurance and a co-pay for covered services.
I understand we have to bite the bullet, but it would be nice to see a different set of teeth marks on it every now and again.

I didn't know eye and dental was previously included. I have Tri-Care Prime, $40 per month, and $12 co-pay for Dr. visits. Unfortunately, I have recently picked up a disability retirement from Socialist Security, which means I have to take Medicare parts A&B, increasing my monthly payments.

As long as we can decommission the USS Jimmy Carter, I'm all for it.

Uhm, do you REALLY want to piss off those who know how to do what appears to be a "muar be done"?

"must" Damn I hate it when I do that.
